Veteran actress Sucheta Khanna is all set to bring laughter back to television with Office Office Chali Musaddi Ki Beti, and for her, the opportunity was simply too exciting to pass up. Known for her impeccable comic timing, Sucheta believes comedy remains one of the most challenging yet rewarding forms of acting.
Speaking about joining the show, she shares that the legacy of Office Office and its fresh new approach instantly caught her attention. “The original show became a cult classic because of its unique storytelling. Earlier, Musaddi Lal’s problems never seemed to get solved, but this time the narrative takes a refreshing turn. Set in 2026, the story introduces Musaddi’s daughter, who tackles issues with confidence and efficiency. The makers also wanted a family member who could bring warmth and familiarity to the household dynamics,” she says.
Sucheta Khanna plays the role of a lively bachelor bua who has devoted her life to raising the family’s children. “She is carefree, outspoken, energetic, and someone who doesn’t carry the burden of worries. Her positivity and warmth make her a lovable character,” she explains.
One of the biggest reasons she accepted the project was her desire to return to comedy. “Comedy shows have become rare on television today. The chance to be part of a comedy series itself was a major reason for saying yes,” she says. She also credits the production house and producer Rajan Waghdare for making the decision even easier.
Reflecting on her acting journey, Sucheta expresses immense gratitude towards her mentor Sachin Pilgaonkar, whom she credits for shaping her understanding of comedy. She also acknowledges learning from acclaimed performers like Supriya Pilgaonkar and the late Reema Lagoo.
“Comedy is a craft that demands complete presence of mind. It’s not just about delivering lines; it’s about timing, observation, improvisation, and understanding the layers within a scene,” she says. During workshops, she even suggested adding a flirtatious edge to her character, an idea that was embraced by the creative team and eventually became one of the character’s most endearing traits.
While she misses the golden era of television comedy, Sucheta remains hopeful that audiences will continue embracing the genre. “Comedy is refreshing, challenging, and incredibly fulfilling. Once you master the craft, the possibilities are endless,” she concludes.
