Be it Rukul Singh from Virgin Bhanupriya, Radha from Dev DD, Reha from It’s Not That Simple or any other role that she has essayed, Rumana Molla makes sure her audience sits up and takes notice of her. Her bouquet of onscreen projects is a testimony to the fact that she is a force to reckon with, and boy is she here to stay and slay! Adding another feather to her cap, the talented actress will soon be seen in a cricket-based web series titled Game of the Sexes.
The story is set in the post-COVID period when audiences have stopped coming to the stadium and the Cricket Board decides to restore the thrill and curiosity in the game of cricket. A woman proposes an idea of mixed gender cricket match that gets approval from the Board, however she herself gets embroiled into a scandal and gets expelled by the Board.
Speaking about her character in the show, Rumana says, “The concept is incredibly fresh, unique and in keeping with current times. And fortunately, the script did justice to the brilliant idea. Aarushi’s character is like a dream role for me. She’s the one who comes up with the idea of ‘Mixed gender cricket’, and she single-handedly makes it all happen. The character is so well layered and goes through such an incredible journey, that as an actor, I felt spoilt! And I am not sure where to go from here.”
Created and directed by award-winning director and producer, Deepak Pandey, ‘Game of the Sexes’ is themed across the recreation of cricket in a first-ever challenging format. The web series features an ensemble cast including Rumana Molla, Megha Prasad, Sachin Verma, Shobhit Attray, Sneha Wagh, Zeeshan Khan, Vindhya Tiwari, Ishani Sharma, Mamta Kumar, Shiraz Khan, Riya Deepsi, Rahul Jaittly, Shahbaz Khan, Piyush Ranade, Nilam, Annurag Batra, Junaid, Kumar Vaibhav amongst others.
“Rumana Molla is absolutely focussed and is a tremendous actress,” said Kaushik Izardar, Executive Director EORTV.
The cast has begun shooting for the series in Moradabad. Sharing her experience, Rumana adds, “Shooting in Moradabad has also been quite incredible. From the weather to the cooperative nature of locals and their excitement, it’s been incredible to shoot in this under-explored city. Hopefully, after this, more people will start shooting here. The highlight of this shoot has been the sequence at a real police station, and also playing cricket! As someone who was never into cricket, I developed an interest in the game all of a sudden, and it feels good to finally get the craze.”
Rumana Molla is an Indian actress who was born in West Virginia in the US. She grew up in Belgium and thanks to the diverse experiences growing up, she can fluently speak 5 languages.
