Director Gifty has added another feather to his cap. The talented director who is a genius in directing singles is currently shooting with Shahid Kapoor, for the iconic 90s song Urvashi from Prabhudheva’s Tamil romcom Kadhalan with Kiara Advani. While the song is composed and sung by Yo Yo Honey Singh, the video is currently being shot by Director Gifty in Mumbai.
The shooting took place under extreme heat conditions in the basement of the Indiabulls building in Parel. In addition to the humidity and suffocation in the basement low level area, there were the bright lights and smoke to add to the ambience of the song. Director Gifty said, “Being a director it was a challanging conditions for me to complete the sequence in the given time. When I explained the situation to my artists Shahid and Kiara without throwing any attitude decided to shoot the whole sequence without taking any break so that the entire unite could wrap up the sequence and take a good break in the next location which was was setup in filmcity.”
Asked him why he chose a newbie like Kiara to dance with an ace dancer like Shahid and he says, “Kiara was great in MS Dhoni. She has that raw innocent appeal about her, which clicks with audiences. She is also new and audiences will be surprised to see her match steps with Shahid. As for Shahid he is an accomplished dancer and has delivered chart busters for Prabhudheva songs. So who better than him?”
Director Gifty has directed a variety of singles with many popular singers and actors from Bollywood. With the song Urvashi, he has only made another step towards connecting hugely with masses. He adds, “I just focus on good work. Directing the popular Urvashi song is my effort towards remembering the talented Prabhudheva and making it even further recreate memories for audiences.”
