Internationally acclaimed Director Rahat Kazmi rose to fame with movies such as Identity Card (2014), Mantostaan (2017), Wishlist (2020), and so on. However, now, he’s garnering more limelight as two of his two films aka ‘Lihaaf’ & ‘Lines’ is all set to release on a popular OTT platform alongside films of well-known directors such as Rajkumar Hirani and Ronnie Screwvala of ‘PK’ & ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ fame, respectively.
The popular OTT platform, Voot Select is coming up with one-of-its-kind film festival, which would feature around 15 critically-acclaimed films in a span of eight days. The list includes Vidya Balan’s short film – ‘Natkhat’, Neena Gupta’s anthology film – ‘Shuruaat ka Twist’, Esha Deol’s ‘Ek Duaa’ and along with it, two films directed & produced under Rahat Kazmi Films banner will also be releasing namely, Hina Khan’s ‘Lines’ and Tannishtha Chatterjee’s ‘Lihaaf’.
The theme of Voot Select Film Festival is #IndiaUnfiltered and thus, it would be portraying subjects varying from LGBTQ+ relationships to domestic abuse. Kick starting from July 24 till the first week of August, the festival will stream films from various languages as well as from several popular filmmakers mentored under noted directors like Amit V. Masurkar of ‘Sherni’ fame, Raj Kumar Gupta of ‘Raid’ fame, and Vikramaditya Motwane famous for ‘Lootera’, ‘Trapped’, ‘Queen’, etc.
In just a short span of time, Rahat Kazmi is rapidly climbing the stairs of success by producing & directing films and also, by launching new faces. Nevertheless, famous TV actress, Hina Khan of ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ fame debuted in Bollywood under the banner of Rahat Kazmi Films.
Not to forget, the first look of the film ‘Lines’ was unveiled at Cannes Film Festival while ‘Lihaaf’ needs no special introduction! Written by the famous writer – Ismat Chughtai, Rahat Kazmi got the copyright to make its film from her grandson. The two films have hogged the limelight even before their release! And now that their release is just in a week’s time, the audience can’t wait to catch glimpse of it!
