Riding high on the massive box-office success of The Kerala Story 2, the film’s music album has also struck a powerful chord with audiences across the country. Composed by acclaimed music director Mannan Shaah, the four-song soundtrack has quickly gained popularity for its deeply rooted melodies and emotional depth. Adding another milestone to his career, Mannan Shaah has not only composed the songs but has also crafted the film’s background score, marking his debut as a background score composer. He has further lent his own voice to the powerful devotional track ‘Shiv Shambho’, which has already become a fan favourite.
As the film continues to receive an overwhelming response in theatres, the album by Mannan Shaah is emerging as one of its most celebrated aspects. The music has been widely appreciated for blending devotional, folk and emotionally driven compositions, while staying firmly rooted in Indian classical and semi-classical traditions. With melodies inspired by traditional raags and folk influences, the soundtrack creates a strong emotional connection with listeners.
Each of the four songs in the album by Mannan Shaah reflects a different emotional layer of the film’s narrative. ‘Saathi Re’, sung by Vishal Mishra, carries a rugged texture and an ominous tone that complements the darker undertones of the story. ‘O Maayi Ri’, performed by Shreya Ghoshal, is a deeply moving composition centred around a poignant mother–daughter bond, delivered with haunting emotional intensity. Meanwhile, ‘Thaari Jogan’, sung by debutant Shaoni, draws inspiration from Rajasthani folk traditions, bringing an earthy authenticity to the album. The soundtrack culminates with the powerful devotional number ‘Shiv Shambho’, composed and sung by Mannan Shaah, which unfolds during the film’s crucial climax.
Reflecting on the journey, Mannan Shaah shared that the opportunity to work on the film came through producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah, with whom he has previously collaborated on the Commando series and Namaste England. He also credited director Kamakhya Narayan Singh for encouraging him to experiment with both the songs and the background score.
Beyond film music, Mannan Shaah has also been actively contributing to the evolving music ecosystem. He recently co-founded the artist-first music platform Goongoonalo alongside legendary artists Shankar Mahadevan and Javed Akhtar, an initiative aimed at empowering musicians with greater creative ownership. Mannan Shaah is also involved in philanthropic work through the Unirise Research Foundation, supporting musical talent among persons with disabilities.
With The Kerala Story 2 continuing its successful theatrical run, Mannan Shaah once again showcases his versatility, delivering a powerful and evocative musical landscape that elevates the film’s emotional and cinematic impact.
