Actress Disha Thakur, who plays the role of Chandni in the web series Main Monica, produced and written by Ranjeet Chitrakaar, Amber Wasi and Paromita Ganguly, says that she has been overwhelmed by the response of the audience. The actress says that she is looking forward to season two.
“People have loved Chandni and I am so excited for all the love and appreciation that my work is getting. This was a very different role and I was extremely curious as to how it would be received, and I am so happy that the show is getting so much love from everyone,” she says.
She adds, “I totally want Season 2 to begin soon. There’s so much that happens in season 1 and we see the characters go through this crazy journey. It would only be fair to see what happens next. I am really looking forward to season 2, it will be way more fun and exciting.”
The impact of OTT can’t be ignored, she says, adding, “OTT has given a great opportunity to so many people, and it is redefining the way cinema is consumed. Everyone is tuned to OTT because the content is great and fresh, the talent is amazing, the creators are pushing the boundaries. Everyone wants to see new and exciting projects and that’s exactly what OTT provides. I think it’s a great thing for us to be a part of the industry at such a time and age wherein there are so many opportunities.”
Disha Thakur adds, “The audience makes stars, as it provides a great platform. If people love you and want to see you, they will watch your work no matter the platform, but if you are fairly new and trying to make a mark then OTT helps you a great deal because there are so many shows being produced with so many stories and characters.”
The genre of thrillers has always worked with the audience, she says, “People consume all kinds of content, but thrillers are exciting and gripping. Considering a web series could be anything between 5-10 episodes, people need a reason to come back to the next episode and thrillers are a great way to entice the audience to continue watching the show. If a show is made well, people will love it.”
