Worship Khanna: If there’s no competition, then what’s the fun?

Worship Khanna feels strongly about the need for originality in television

Actor Worship Khanna, known for his role in Pati Brahmachari, is one of those rare voices in the entertainment industry who speaks with refreshing honesty. Whether it’s about the influx of influencers stepping into acting or the repetitiveness in television content, Worship offers perspectives rooted in both experience and curiosity.

“Competition is everywhere,” Worship Khanna says matter-of-factly. “It’s not just influencers—it’s life itself. And honestly, if there’s no competition, then what’s the fun? Life would become monotonous.” For Worship, the growing presence of influencers in acting isn’t a threat but part of the natural evolution of the industry. “Today it’s influencers; tomorrow it’ll be someone else. Everyone deserves a chance. The key is to lace up your shoes and keep running the race. I accept everyone as competition and enjoy that fight.”

While embracing change, Worship Khanna also feels strongly about the need for originality in television. “The problem with TV is repetition. If one show has a mother-in-law dying and coming back as a spirit, suddenly all shows do the same thing,” he points out. For him, television today leans too heavily on trends. “Even in simple things like Haldi or Mehendi scenes, everyone dresses the same, follows the same patterns. Back in the day, shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi created their own trends. No one copied. That originality is missing now. We need fresh ideas and risks.”

When it comes to his own career, Worship Khanna takes an organic approach, letting opportunities shape his journey. “I never planned to be a comedian, but when I tried, people loved it. Later I did a negative role, and that was appreciated too. We don’t always know what lies within us until we try,” he reflects.

His philosophy is simple—stay open and give every role his best. “Whatever comes my way, I’ll do it with full honesty. The audience will decide how it feels to them. I just want to remain open to all possibilities.”
