Netflix and YRF Entertainment are all set to release their highly anticipated mythological-crime thriller series Mandala Murders on July 25. The show marks the streaming debut of Vaani Kapoor, who takes on a genre-defying role that pushes her beyond her previous boundaries as an actor.
Speaking about her role, Vaani Kapoor shared, “I wanted my streaming debut to be something truly special and demanding. Mandala Murders offered exactly that—a bold, psychologically intense thriller that challenged me on every level. It’s a genre I’ve never explored, and this project pushed me to discover new emotional depths and physical intensity that I hadn’t tapped into before.”
Kapoor believes her role in the series is part of a larger shift in the industry. “There’s a new wave of actresses who are embracing high-stakes, physically driven roles—something that’s been long overdue. Women in Indian cinema are finally getting to lead action-packed narratives, blending strength and emotion in a way that resonates powerfully with audiences.”
Set against the backdrop of an ancient prophecy and a deeply layered mystery, Mandala Murders promises an immersive experience where each twist brings the viewer closer to a truth buried in myth.
Vaani Kapoor also praised the opportunities offered by streaming platforms: “OTT opens doors for actresses to take on substantial, meatier roles—something that’s often lacking in theatrical films where male characters dominate the spotlight. Streaming lets us fully showcase our craft.”
Created and directed by Gopi Puthran, best known for the Mardaani series, and co-directed by Manan Rawat, Mandala Murders is the second project to emerge from the creative collaboration between Netflix and YRF Entertainment, following the success of The Railway Men in 2023.
The series also stars Vaibhav Raj Gupta, Surveen Chawla, and Shriya Pilgaonkar, all playing pivotal roles in unraveling the gripping mystery at the heart of Mandala Murders.
