Director Shahid Kazmi and a star cast including Tariq Imtyaz, Pari Choudhary and Mir Sarwar recently launched the trailer of Prem Kumar Films’ upcoming dark comedy “Lateef to Laden”, in Mumbai.
Also present at the launch were MTV Roadies winners Shweta Mehta, Pooja Bisht, Hitanshu Jinsi, and actress Sheena Chohan. Not only was the excitement among guests palpable but the makers also received a very positive and favourable response from everyone present.
Lateef to Laden is the story of a shepherd called ‘Lateef’ from a small village in Kashmir who dreams of joining the defence forces although he is not very well educated. Lateef likes a girl named ‘Chandani’ who admires militants. To impress the girl he loves, Lateef starts impersonating a militant leader who happens to be a close ally to Osama. All this triggers a series of events that will not only be a laughter riot but also keep viewers on the edge of their seats throughout the film. To understand whether Lateef finally gets the girl of his dreams, one must surely watch this amazing film.
“The entire film was shot in Poonch, Kashmir primarily because we wanted a location where the culture and environment resemble that of Pakistan. Every character in the film is from Poonch which ensures that viewers get a realistic feel throughout the film. ‘Lateef to Laden’ is a dark comedy built around a cute love story which is what leads to all events that happen in the film,” said director Shahid Kazmi who is best known for factual films like ‘Damini the victim’ and ‘Burahan Wani (which triggered a controversy around Kashmir in 2017)’.
Prem Kumar’s journey to stardom was not a cakewalk. However, he attributes his success to the struggles he faced. From a Security Supervisor and Fabrication Engineer, Prem became a theatre artist, actor and producer. Speaking about this, he said, “I have always wanted to be an actor ever since I can remember. I have dabbled in theatre and also walked the ramp during the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai. Given that Lateef to Laden is my debut film, it will always be close to my heart. The story is fresh and the concept is new—something that we are sure everyone from a kid to an adult will enjoy. I urge all of you to go and watch the film.”
Actor Mir Sarwar who was last seen in Neeraj Pandey’s directorial venture ‘Aiyaary’ will also be seen in the movie. “I loved the concept and idea of Lateef to Laden the moment I heard it. I have always supported independent films especially those made in Jammu and Kashmir. It is a small contribution on my part to support the local film industry. Lateef to Laden gives a new perspective to some very poignant issues and I would request everyone to go watch the film with an open mind,” said Mir Sarwar.
Debutante actors Tariq Imtyaz and Pari Choudary are also an integral part of this movie. Lateef to Laden releases on 26th October 2018.
