Shweta Tripathi Sharma channels her inner Kill Bill energy in these pics from Mirzapur 2

If a film epitomized women empowerment, it is the brilliant Uma Thurman starrer Kill Bill. 2003 Quentin Tarantino classic has achieved an immortal status in the genre of revenge dramas. Thus, it is no surprise that while shooting for her own version of a revenge saga, Shweta Tripathi Sharma channelized her inner Uma Thurman for her character Golu in the second season of Mirzapur. Ready to avenge the deaths of her sister Sweety and Bablu (played by Shriya Pilgaonkar and Vikrant Massey respectively), Golu has unleashed an unseen before deadly streak from within herself. Smeared in blood, the girl is ready to battle it out with the gang lords of Mirzapur to take revenge.

Shweta says that the rage of Golu was the hardest part for her to crack. “There are many cinematic references. Kill Bill surely tops the list. It was important to understand the Golu is the kind of woman who takes the lead. She cannot be oppressed or be struggling in the face of adversity. Golu’s survival energy was what I internalized for my part. There’s a steely resolve in Golu, coupled with uncontrollable rage. The second season for me was such a unique experience. Never could I have imagined playing something like this and here I am, in the release week. There are butterflies for the response and the hope that I have surprised my fans like never before.”

Mirzapur is a big G-Spot for me- Guns and Ghoonghat, says actor Harshita Gaur

Talking about coincidences, Actor Harshita Gaur who will be seen in the upcoming season of Mirzapur on Amazon Prime actually has roots from this city in Uttar Pradesh. Harshita’s maternal grandfather hailed from Deoria which is close to Mirzapur and he grew up there along with his siblings.

Speaking about her childhood memories, Harshita said, “Just talking about Mirzapur makes me go all nostalgic as I have spent quite an amount of my childhood there. My naanaji and his younger brother were settled in Mirzapur. My naana eventually settled in Amritsar but we used to visit our cousins in Mirzapur during summer holidays as a kid and I have actually seed guns and pistols in that home. I was in fifth or sixth grade when I would visit the city and women used to be in ghoonghat till their waists. Only a few years back I got to know that my naani was actually fighting a case for long due to some illegal land grabbing and in fact our family and nani was advised not to go to Mirzapur or Wasliganj because of the threat of being killed on sight. It still sends shivers down my spine when I think about it.”

She further added , “When I was offered the series, it took me back to some  childhood memories in a way my family has suffered and seen that part within the family…like getting threats from an extended family. Even when I heard the narration and read the script, I had my childhood memories play out like a show reel as it wasn’t new to me, as  years back if I was probably spotted in that city I would have been killed on sight. So somewhere yes, I resonated with the fact that things like these do happen.”

Harshita Gaur will be seen reprising the role of Dimpi Pandit in the series starring Ali Fazal, Vikrant Massey, Pankaj Tripathi, Shweta Tripathi, Divyendu Sharma and Rasika Dugal. Mirzapur season 2 will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video from Friday, October 23rd, 2020.

Actors Vikrant Massey and Kriti Kharbanda will be pairing up for the first time in this quirky, contemporary social comedy that promises to be a complete entertainer—a roller coaster ride with ‘Sanjay’ and ‘Aditi’ on their adventures and misadventures.

Actor Vikrant Massey said, “The script hit me hard, the ideology of the film and the main thought behind the story is something that has been with me, individually. When I heard the script, it felt like two halves becoming one, I would have been a fool to let go of this film. It’s a beautiful story that speaks of very pertinent things relevant in today’s times. I’m really looking forward to working with Kriti. I’ve seen her films and she is a very good actor! Can’t wait to get started!”

Actor Kriti Kharbanda said, “14 Phere is a socially relevant, promising, fun script on a kick-ass subject. From the moment I heard the script, I found myself extremely excited! It’s led by a great team headed by Devanshu, whose previous work I admire. I absolutely love the character of Aditi that I will be portraying in this film—I think I’ve become Aditi already! I’m looking forward to sharing screen space with Vikrant who’s a terrific actor. Super excited to get started in bringing Aditi to life!”

Commenting on the announcement, Shariq Patel, CEO, Zee Studios said, “14 Phere is an important film that beautifully captures the heart and heartland of India—it’s a quirky, contemporary, emotional and relevant film which also highlights how weddings, most often, happen between two families, not just two people. We needed a fresh, new pairing and we couldn’t have been happier to have Vikrant and Kriti on board! We are currently working on pre-production, and prepping to go on floor in November.”

Director Devanshu Singh said, “14 Phere is a full-blown family entertainer. A contemporary social comedy with elements of romance, comedy of errors, lots of emotions, adventures-misadventures and celebrations. It’s full of surprises. I’m super thrilled to be working with Vikrant and Kriti, they are supremely talented yet so real and fun to work with. The best part is that they believe in the script as much as I do. Can’t wait to go on floors!”

Produced by Zee Studios, 14 Phere, starring Vikrant Massey & Kriti Kharbanda, directed by Devanshu Singh, is slated to release on July 9, 2021.

Vikrant Massey impresses all in the crime-thriller ‘Mirzapur’!

Enchanting the audiences with his simple yet realistic performances, Vikrant Massey earned quite applause for his role in Amazon Prime’s amusing gorefest – Mirzapur!

In this web’s response to Gangs Of Wasseypur, Vikrant plays a typically clueless good boy who gets pushed into the world of crime. The talented actor is skilled enough to gain all the attention from his viewers in spite of his character being helplessly embroiled into ambition, greed, horrid games and morbid atrocities without any sign of initial rebel against power.

This young, promising actor didn’t just woo the audience with his effortlessly nuanced performance but a lot of revered critics reviewed only to shower him with appreciation for his part in this crime thriller.

For instance, The Indian Express opined, “Vikrant Massey plays the innocent docile boy and we are hoping that his character will find a direction in the upcoming episodes.” In the meanwhile, Times Now News rated him saying, “Vikrant Massey is of the first rate.”

Firstpost reviewed him as a peaceful distraction from animosity, increasing death counts and gloomy circumstances saying, “Massey provides a relief from the constant gore, and lends the story a fleeting balance.”

Popular site Scroll.in affirms, “Vikrant Massey is terrific in his role, managing to earn some sympathy even though his character is never up to any good.” In.com finally avers on his diction quoting, “Vikrant Massey delivers his lines wonderfully.”

Vikrant Massey has an impressive mix of content-driven plus mainstream projects to his name like Mirzapur, Lipstick Under My Burkha, A Death in the Gunj, Dil Dhadkne Do and Lootera for which his power packed and impactful performances were highly appreciated.
