Vidya Balan will make a special appearance on this week’s Cricket Connected

Vidya Balan will make a special appearance on this week’s Cricket Connected episodes alongside former Team India stars Gautam Gambhir and Irfan Pathan as the experts on the English and Hindi shows. Balan, a Padma Shree awardee and National Film award-winning actor, will be promoting her upcoming flick Shakuntala Devi, a biographical drama that touches upon the various events in the life of Shakuntala Devi, whose ability to solve complex mathematical problems swiftly, made her famous as the “human computer”.

Speaking exclusively on Star Sports show Cricket Connected before the premier of Shakuntala Devi, National Film award winner Vidya Balan can’t wait to see her favourite Team India stars back on the field, “It’s unfortunate to see how the world has been impacted due to the ongoing pandemic and we all can get through this together. Sports have always been a symbol of unity. Being an ardent Team India fan, I’ve really missed seeing our stars on the field, but thanks to Cricket Connected, I’ve managed to get my dose of what’s happening in the world of cricket. It’s inspiring to see how our cricketing superstars like MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma keep themselves motivated and fit. I’ve always loved watching cricket matches and living in Mumbai, the default setting is always to support Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Some of our cricketers score runs as fast as Shakuntala Devi does her calculations. Hopefully, we will be able to bring back cricket which I believe, can instill a sense of hope and happiness into our lives. I’m really looking forward and thrilled to be part of the next episode of Cricket Connected.”

15 gracious years of Parineeta and we are still not over the story and Vidya’s phenomenal debut

Piyu Bole! Piya Bole! Kya yeh bole jaanu na, remember the heart winning chartbuster from Bollywood’s much celebrated film ‘Parineeta’ featuring the versatile Vidya Balan and Saif Ali Khan along with Sanjay Dutt and Raima Sen in pivotal roles. Pradeep Sarkar’s adaptation of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhayay’s  Lolita into Parineeta was flawless, marvelous. The script, the soothing music and a powerful debutante Vidya Balan made audiences go gaga over the film and till date is one of our favorites and go to film. The film today marks it 15th anniversary, Do you feel old yet? Or is it just us?

Actor Vidya Balan has beautifully penned a message on her social media handle about the film completing 15 long years and also shared some unseen BTS pictures leaving us wanting for more. Vidya on this happy occasion added,”Like Lolita was Shekhar’s better half even before the world knew it, you were mine too … but on the 10th June 2005,i became your Parineeta . I loved you then and i love you now and i love you forever more …my dear Cinema. And to all those who have made sure this marriage survives and thrives.,Tahe Dil Se Shukriya.

#15YearsOfParineeta.Incidentally Parineeta was also the first film my #Shekhar , #SiddharthRoyKapur worked on after joining #UTV …his first film too. Parineeta was Vidya’s first collaboration with her husband Siddharth Roy Kapur along with her mighty debut. It seems like these two love birds were destined to meet since the start and build their happy paradise forever.

Vidya today is considered to be the torch bearer of women-centric and powerful roles in Bollywood and she surely justifies any character she plays on the screen but Parineeta saw the naive yet refreshing Vidya playing the character of Lolita. The chemistry between her and Saif set our hearts and screens on fire and the entire Bengali backdrop was cherry on the cake that made Vidya a household name within a very short span of time.Parineeta till date remains one of Vidya’s best performances and she was awarded with many prestigious awards for her debut in Parineeta.

Wishing the entire team of Parineeta many many congratulations and its time for major celebrations and we would love Vidya to play such many more stunning characters and make them come alive. We are eagerly awaiting her much talked about Shakuntala Devi to release on Amazon Prime  and well we all know the wonders Natkhat has done and is continuing to do.

Sanya Malhotra shares her look as Shakuntala Devi’s daughter Anupama

Sanya Malhotra shares her on- screen avatar of Shakuntala Devi’s daughter Anupama Banerji in Vidya Balan –fronted film on Math Genius.

“I hardly straighten my hair,” says Sanya Malhotra, whose latest role requires her to sit in the make-up room as her hairdresser turns her lustrous curls, poker – straight. If Vidya Balan plays the math genius, Malhotra slips into the role of Anupama Banerji, Devi’s daughter.

She reveals that she has thoroughly enjoyed the process of creating her look, modeled on Banerji. “I believe hair, makeup and costume play an important part in an actor’s attempt to portray their roles. Playing real- life characters start with acing the look. Even for Dangal (2016), I had to cut my hair short to look like Babita (Phogat).” The actor met Banerji in the Queen’s city before the film went on floors. “We discussed the relationship she shared with her mother. I also did some reading with Anu and Vidya before the first schedule.”

Shakuntala Devi’s genius was discovered when she, at the age of five, reportedly solved a mathematical problem designed for 18- year-old students.
