I relate to Tamasha’s Ved on a cosmic level : reveals Nishant Singh Malkani

With the lockdown gradually lifting and people across the country stepping out into the new normal, Zee TV has resumed shoots of its shows and is all set to reconnect its audiences with the journeys of their beloved characters who had become their favourite dinner-table companions. Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega is amongst people’s top favorite shows and has begun airing fresh episodes starting 13th July

The show’s male lead Nishant Singh Malkani has been shooting back to back for the show, but he revealed recently how he loves watching movies whenever possible. In fact, he feels that watching movies helps him learn and better his craft. Further more, he revealed that Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha has impacted him a lot and has influenced his taste in cinema. He even feels that his life is very similar to that of Tamasha’s Ved (played by Ranbir Kapoor). As Nishant shared, “A movie that has influenced my taste in cinema has to be Imtiaz Ali sir’s Tamasha. I hold that movie very close to my heart, more so due to the striking similarities I share with the protagonist Ved. Just like Ved, I come from a small-town family and my parents used to emphasise the importance that numbers, percentages and academics hold in life and how they will single-handedly ascertain the quality of life we all will get to live in the future. This was certainly the biggest pressure I have lived with throughout my childhood. While I do not blame my parents for sharing their outlook, there is no denying the fact that there are some children who look at the world and everything around them through a coloured glass and their creativity overpowers the logical approach to life.”

Bearing the creative genes in the family, while growing up Nishant had arguments with his parents who tried to guide him towards a more logical and practical way of life. These small quarrels used to leave him frustrated and he would find solace by watching movies and celebrating creativity and art. “Back in school, when I did not score as well as my neighbor’s child or my friends, I felt useless and kind of a loser of sorts, which was a real bummer. I grew to despise it and got somewhat frustrated. But that is exactly what made me realise that I wasn’t built to do well in academics and something bigger and better was waiting for me out there. It is in fact a coincidence that I got a chance to act and I enjoyed the whole process of learning how to act. I practically discovered and accepted myself through this process and got in touch with my real emotions. Like Imtiaz Sir’s Ved, I realised quite late in my life that I was always meant to be an actor, and a door practically opened up for me to flourish and be out there in the world. I truly relate with the whole journey of Imtiaz Ali’s Ved on a cosmic level.”

While movies, especially Tamasha, might have inspired Nishant Singh Malkhani, his character Akshat is all set to experience some drastic twists and turns in Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega. Even as viewers look forward to witness the chemistry between Guddan (Kanika Mann) and Akshat Jindal (Nishant Singh Malkani) once again, the entire family will be seen coming together to celebrate Guddan’s pregnancy. However, with Ganga’s evil plans to harm Guddan and her baby, the story will take a drastic turn and the viewers will have a lot to look forward to in the coming few episodes.

So don’t forget to tune in to Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega, Monday to Friday at 8 pm, only on Zee TV!

Ishwak Singh will be seen in a trilingual directed by Anil Kumar

Ishwak Singh who was last seen in Veere Di Wedding, will be seen featuring opposite renowned Sri Lankan stars Jackson Anthony and Piumi Hansamali, Tamil actor and filmmaker Ramakrishnan and leading Malyali actress Mythili Balchandran in a South Indian film “Lucknow”.

The actor who recently got the air buzzing with his “Biryani Act” is all set to showcase grey shades in the Anil Kumar directorial. Ishwak will be seen delivering dialogues in Tamil, Malayalam and Sinhalese.

The Veere Di Wedding actor, who is a Punjabi himself, took up the challenge of learning the three languages for the film. During a confrontation scene between him and Ramakrishnan, the entire cast and crew present at the set started a huge round of applause because of the intense scene work between the two. “It felt like being on stage and everyone present became the Audience”. This scene was shot thrice, with the same response every time.

Ishwak Singh after practising for just about three days delivered his first dialogue with so much ease and perfection that the entire cast and crew applauded his performance for one of the scene in the film.

Because of his performance in this film and the previous Malyalam film Mohavalyam, Ishwak has also been approached by a leading filmmaker from South who plans to remake his award winning film in Hindi.

This film has been remade in 5 languages and has received critical as well as commercial success. The filmmaker intends to cast Ishwak along with a very senior actor from Bollywood.

Ishwak Singh returns to theater with ‘Court Martial’!

Before making his mark as an actor with his film, Veere Di Wedding, Ishwak Singh has been part of Asmita Theater Group and featured in several popular plays including Mahesh Bhatt’s The Last Salute. His wide range of performances has been hugely appreciated by theater critics and audience.

The talented actor, who won huge appreciation for his latest commercial directed by Imtiaz Ali, was quite excited to return to theatre and was a part of a popular play, Court Martial, which was showcased on last Saturday at Sathaye College.

Written by Swadesh Deepak, widely recognised as one of the finest playwrights in the country after the publication of Court Martial, the play hits hard the roots of casteism in the Indian Army.

Ishwak, who has been associated with Court Martial for more than eight years and has done multiple productions of the play, portrays the role of Col. Surat Singh.

Court Martial has been staged close to 2000 times in India by well-known Indian theater directors Ranjeet Kapoor, Arvind Gaur, Usha Ganguly, Abhijeet Choudhary. It has also been translated into several Indian languages.

Ishwak has featured in several mainstream and critically-acclaimed films including Raanjhanaa and Tamasha, and also won acclaim for his role in Hansal Mehta’s Aligarh.

Ishwak Singh collaborates with Imtiaz Ali again for a commercial!

Taking his association with filmmaker Imtiaz Ali to the next level, talented actor Ishwak Singh, who has worked with the filmmaker on Tamasha, has collaborated with him once again for a biryani masala commercial that has got him praises and accolades.

Riding high on the success of his latest blockbuster, Veere Di Wedding, Ishwak is thrilled with the humongous response that has come his way, to the extent that people have started creating memes of the commercial that has got him to rave reviews from across the globe.

Having worked with the filmmaker for the second time, Ishwak feels blessed to have worked with the successful filmmaker for the commercial.

Such has been the craze of Ishwak post the success of Veere Di Wedding that the suave actor has started getting several marriage offers.

Recalling a memorable experience, Ishwak says, “While the Ad is a hilarious one, Imtiaz sir wanted a very nuanced performance, something which is felt and internal rather than enacted and external.”

“There was an occasion where I realized what an amazing director he is and perhaps an actor’s dream. After I did a scene, he came up to me and read out my thoughts and said that you need to approach it another way. He knew exactly what my motivation was. That is how well he knows his art,” he adds.
