Trailer of war-drama film Battalion 609 launched

While one has seen several Hindi films depicting the enmity between India and Pakistan through the wars fought between their respective armies, what if the same is depicted through a cricket match fought between them? ‘Battalion 609’is a film that explores this very idea.

The story of the film is about a cricket match scheduled between the Indian Army and the Pakistani Army which goes wrong leading to several other incidents. It also talks about the battle fought between the brave soldiers of Battalion 609 and the Taliban. The cast of the film consists of some supremely talented actors headed by TV Shoaib Ibrahim who plays the role of a soldier from the Indian army.

Apart from war and action, the film has a good amount of romance, drama and humour, thus making it a complete entertainer. The film stars Shoaib Ibrahim, Sparsh Sharma, Elena Kazan, Farnaaz Shetty, Vishwas Kini, Jashan Kohli & Kiaan, Vicky Ahuja, CP Thakur and Vikas Srivastava.

The trailer of the film was launched yesterday at JW Marriott, Juhu in the presence of the cast and crew of the film. The team of the film shared their experience of working on the film and why the subject of the film will touch the heart of every Indian. They also talked about the clash of the film with ‘Uri – The Surgical Strike’.

Battalion 609, directed by Brijesh Batuknath Tripathi and produced by Narindas Lalwani of N.J. Lalwani Films, releases worldwide on January 11, 2019.

‘Battalion 609’ to clash with ‘Uri The Surgical Strike’ on 11 January

In the recent past, Bollywood rolled out several films which talked about patriotism and had a nationalistic fervour to them. Adding its name to the list is ‘Battalion 609’, a film which revolves around a cricket match between Indian Army and the Pakistan army gone wrong and narrates the tale of the brave soldiers of Battalion 609 putting up a fight with the mighty Taliban. Interestingly, this film hits the theatres on the same date as ‘Uri The Surgical Strike’, another film which has patriotic/nationalistic undertones to it.

The cast of the film comprises of several talented actors including television heartthrob Shoaib Ibrahim who makes his big screen debut with this film. Though the film talks about the tension prevailing between India and Pakistan, it has an underlying layer of humour in it and does not use a preachy way to convey the message. Apart from army, patriotism and the love for one’s country, the film talks about something which both India and Pakistan are passionate about – cricket.

This year itself, a film like ‘Raazi’ was lauded for its sensitive portrayal of the relationship between India and Pakistan. Just like that film, ‘Battalion 609’, too, talks about the issue in a very responsible manner while using humour as a tool to educate the audience about several issues which both the countries are a victim of.

Written and directed by Brijesh Batuknath Tripathi and produced by Naraindas Lalwani of N.J Lalwani Films, ‘Battalion 609’ releases on 11 January 2019 worldwide.
