Mirzapur is a big G-Spot for me- Guns and Ghoonghat, says actor Harshita Gaur

Talking about coincidences, Actor Harshita Gaur who will be seen in the upcoming season of Mirzapur on Amazon Prime actually has roots from this city in Uttar Pradesh. Harshita’s maternal grandfather hailed from Deoria which is close to Mirzapur and he grew up there along with his siblings.

Speaking about her childhood memories, Harshita said, “Just talking about Mirzapur makes me go all nostalgic as I have spent quite an amount of my childhood there. My naanaji and his younger brother were settled in Mirzapur. My naana eventually settled in Amritsar but we used to visit our cousins in Mirzapur during summer holidays as a kid and I have actually seed guns and pistols in that home. I was in fifth or sixth grade when I would visit the city and women used to be in ghoonghat till their waists. Only a few years back I got to know that my naani was actually fighting a case for long due to some illegal land grabbing and in fact our family and nani was advised not to go to Mirzapur or Wasliganj because of the threat of being killed on sight. It still sends shivers down my spine when I think about it.”

She further added , “When I was offered the series, it took me back to some  childhood memories in a way my family has suffered and seen that part within the family…like getting threats from an extended family. Even when I heard the narration and read the script, I had my childhood memories play out like a show reel as it wasn’t new to me, as  years back if I was probably spotted in that city I would have been killed on sight. So somewhere yes, I resonated with the fact that things like these do happen.”

Harshita Gaur will be seen reprising the role of Dimpi Pandit in the series starring Ali Fazal, Vikrant Massey, Pankaj Tripathi, Shweta Tripathi, Divyendu Sharma and Rasika Dugal. Mirzapur season 2 will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video from Friday, October 23rd, 2020.

Pankaj Tripathi’s Kaleen Bhaiyya has resurrected the love for traditional villains

After wowing the world with his cool-daddy act in Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Pankaj Tripathi returns in a month to reprise his iconic character of Kaleen Bhaiyya in Mirzapur’s second season. Left at the delicious cliffhanger, the tent pole outing has Tripathi play the part of a menacing mafioso. Tripathi, known for his stellar performances, fits into every shade of the character with impeccable ease. Long after the era of villains has gone, Tripathi has brought to the fore a layered villainous character everyone loves to loathe.

Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya

Tripathi tells us, “In our younger years, the idea of a villain was rather limited. It was obviously by virtue of how the stories played out, villainous was a little over the top in their tonality. With Mirzapur and Gurgaon earlier or even Sacred Games, I have been able to explore the dark side of the human psyche in greater depth. I choose the negative characters wisely. None of them should be similar and each of them should be distinctly different from the other. The motivation of each of these characters is starkly different. Kaleen is intoxicated by the power he commands so he operates out of protecting his self-worth. I am glad that writers are writing unique negative characters who do more than just have an ominous laugh. There are strong back stories, a character graph that defines why the man is a certain way. Long formats also allow you to delve deeper into these aspects. Kaleen doesn’t out rightly look villainous because you are familiarised with the many facets of the man. These are not traditional villainous parts but I am glad that these parts are 2.0 versions of Mogambos, Shakaals, and Gabbars of yesteryear.”

Vikrant Massey impresses all in the crime-thriller ‘Mirzapur’!

Enchanting the audiences with his simple yet realistic performances, Vikrant Massey earned quite applause for his role in Amazon Prime’s amusing gorefest – Mirzapur!

In this web’s response to Gangs Of Wasseypur, Vikrant plays a typically clueless good boy who gets pushed into the world of crime. The talented actor is skilled enough to gain all the attention from his viewers in spite of his character being helplessly embroiled into ambition, greed, horrid games and morbid atrocities without any sign of initial rebel against power.

This young, promising actor didn’t just woo the audience with his effortlessly nuanced performance but a lot of revered critics reviewed only to shower him with appreciation for his part in this crime thriller.

For instance, The Indian Express opined, “Vikrant Massey plays the innocent docile boy and we are hoping that his character will find a direction in the upcoming episodes.” In the meanwhile, Times Now News rated him saying, “Vikrant Massey is of the first rate.”

Firstpost reviewed him as a peaceful distraction from animosity, increasing death counts and gloomy circumstances saying, “Massey provides a relief from the constant gore, and lends the story a fleeting balance.”

Popular site Scroll.in affirms, “Vikrant Massey is terrific in his role, managing to earn some sympathy even though his character is never up to any good.” In.com finally avers on his diction quoting, “Vikrant Massey delivers his lines wonderfully.”

Vikrant Massey has an impressive mix of content-driven plus mainstream projects to his name like Mirzapur, Lipstick Under My Burkha, A Death in the Gunj, Dil Dhadkne Do and Lootera for which his power packed and impactful performances were highly appreciated.
