Often when we watch a movie and are blown away by the gripping visuals or the suave camera work, as movie buffs, often we do a quick search to know who the ‘director’ is! And let us say the music was equally compelling, then the ‘Music Director’ as well. But one person we often underestimate is the power of the cinematographer – the hands behind the camera!

Surely a film is conceived in the mind of the director but it is the cinematographer who actually makes it happen. It is the cinematographer who is involved in the entire production lifecycle and interacts closely with the director to create the visual magic that translates onscreen.

This masterclass is curated by Bookaworkshop.in and Jay will share his rebel story as a cinematographer and talks about ‘behind the scenes’ for some of the most iconic scenes from his movies! It will a masterclass to understand ow the camera approach film scripts and scenes and the strategic ideas behind creating a visual canvas.

Jay Oza started his career with the short film The Unborn Identity in 2010, and then was associated with the television documentary series The Dewarists. His most notable work came with the Indian adaptation of the American television series 24, winning him the Indian Telly Jury Award for Videography (Best TV Cameraman – Fiction).  Jay has also worked on few popular web series and other short films, and among his other feature film credits are Raman Raghav 2.0, Ghoul, and Blackmail. His 2019 release includes Gully Boy, which won him numerous accolades, including Filmfare Award for Best Cinematography (2020) Gully Boy.

KK Binojee makes his directorial debut in ‘The Wild Cards’

Director KK Binojee the brilliant Telegu artist who has previously worked with director Ram Gopal Verma will be seen making his directorial debut with a crime-based thriller ‘The Wild Cards’. KK Binojee has worked in many Telegu films as an assistant director under Ram Gopal Verma’s Telugu directorial. Binojee gained fame as a script writer for the Telugu movie named Ice Cream and then, in its sequel. KK Binojee’s ‘The Wild Cards’ movie showcases the harsh reality of the people living in the slums.

The movie portraits the cruel truth of crime happening in the slums. It depicts how the young generations are driven forcefully into the world of crime making them ruthless criminals. The movie takes us through the trip of few such criminals who are molded in such a way by the society they grew up in. Basically, a journey from selflessness to selfishness.

“My years of experience working with sir Ram Gopal Verma have delivered me this golden opportunity of making my directorial debut. Today whatever I have learnt achieved is an outcome of the experience working with Ram Gopal Verma. There’s no person in Hyderabad who is not influenced by him, he’s like a god to us.  ‘The Wild Cards’ is a wonderful film, the content is strong and beautiful with complete raw content and I’m very positive that the audience will appreciate my effort,” quoted director KK Binojee.

This movie cast actors of the NSD and Theatre Artist like Sushil Pandey, Akkash Basnet, Vikram Singh Sodha, Ashish Warang, Nakul Tomar, Meenakshi Pandey, Maya Gehlot and other extremely talented theatre artist.

‘The Wild Cards’ is written and directed by KK Binojee and is produced by Munaf Baluch and Sanjog Singh of Sara Film Factory.

Vijay Raaz lends his voice over to KK Binojee’s ‘The Wild Cards’

Often movies are narrated and picturized for the audience via a voice over which keeps them on the edge of their seats. Indian actor Vijay Raaz who was recently seen in Zoya Akthar’s film ‘Gully Boy’ has agreed for being a voice over for a Hindi feature film with an extraordinary subject called ‘The Wild Cards’.

The movie ‘The Wild Cards’ depicts the reality of slums which are widely considered as factories for criminals and how the young boys from these slums are forced and directed towards crime. ‘Wild Cards’ in detail takes us through the journey of some such criminals who are moulded in such a way, by the society they grew up in.

Vijay Raaz who is known for his remarkable and cult performances in the Bollywood industry has taken upon another such project with ‘The Wild Cards’ where his narration has given the story the much required tribe and vibe.

The director stated, “Vijay Raaz Sir loved the story at the first narration, he told me that the story of the film sounds appealing and he would love to be a part of the film. I felt that this is a story which is needed to be told with a narrative and Vijay Raaz is a perfect fit for this job and I know he will give his 100%. I hope the audience gets the message this story tries to evoke amongst them and achieve the greatness it deserves.”

The movie ‘The Wild Cards’ is the 1st feature film beautifully written and directed by extremely talented KK Binojee who has worked with the likes of Ram Gopal Varma and Krishna Vamsi. It is produced by Munaf Baluch and Sanjog Singh of Sara Film Factory. Ishaan Khatter raps to Moeen aka Vijay Varma’s rap from Gully boy

Vijay Varma took to his social media yesterday as his on-screen avatar of Gully Boy – Moeen bhai. He rapped in true Moeen style, which is his signature from the film. His character is being called as one of the most memorable ones in the film, with social media pouring in with much love for his character. One such person who’s become a fan of the character is Ishaan Khatter who took to social media and posted his own rap video for Moeen aka Vijay Varma.

Slaying the Moeen style rap, his caption of the post said – In honour of one of my favourite films in a long time and Moeen bhai, one of Zoya Akthar’s best characters. Thank you @itsvijayvarma for making him a flesh and blood human being.

Bollywood singer Shilpa Surroch turns rapper

Music reality show star and singer Shilpa Surroch who became popular as a contestant on The Voice India Season 2, has bagged a song for another film Paharganj. The film is a murder mystery and thriller and the lyrics are penned by the popular lyricist of Udta Punjab, Shellee. After the rap fever engulfing the country with Ranveer Singh’s Gully Boy, Shilpa is happy that she has gotten an opportunity to sing one.

She says, “I shot for the song when I was suffering from severe cold. I was not very confident if the song will turn out well but the makers loved the song, when it finally came out. I think they liked my nasal voice. It was a great experience rapping, since I took it as a challenge and the film is also great based in Paharganj- also known as the Amsterdam of India.”

The singer who has sung for films Black Bud, Murari The Mad Gentleman, Game over, Mirror Game and Vikram Bhatt’s shows feels it is important that you bring versatility in your singing and with a rap song, Shilpa is sure going places. She is sharing the song credits with popular Bollywood singer Brijesh Shandilya of ‘Banno’ fame.
