Sakshi Sharma plays the role of Sanjana in Hungama Play’s Dhappa. Produced by Anil V Kumar, the anthology that released recently, is being received well by the audience.
“The response is mind blowing, everyone is loving it. I feel so happy that I am falling short of words to describe my emotions,” she says.
Sakshi shares that she enjoyed playing the character. “Actually Sanjana is a lot like Sakshi, I could relate to her personally, which really helped me portray the part well. That’s also one of the reasons why I chose this character. I think small town girls will be able to connect with it a lot more given how the story, backdrop and the character is,” she adds.
Working with director and producer Anil, has also been a learning experience for the actor. “It was a pleasure working with Anil sir. He is just amazing. There is so much I got to learn from him. I would love to collaborate with him again,” she says.
The OTT boom in the country, according to Sakshi Sharma, has opened more options and opportunities for actors and even those working behind the camera. “It’s a great opportunity for us as we can explore more in terms of characters, stories and styles. I think we are going through an interesting time. As an audience, I also enjoy binge watching on OTT. I love the thriller genre more and would like to explore the same in future too,” she adds.
Talking about what other kind of characters she wants to play on OTT and if, for a TV actor, making space in the new medium is a struggle or not, she shares, “As an actor I want to explore anything interesting that comes my way. But mostly I would love to do psychological thrillers, because, as I just said, I quite like the genre. At the same time, I don’t want to limit myself. As far as struggle is concerned, it is everywhere. You just have to be patient and keep working hard.”
