‘Reel Star’ tells the story of a street vendor named Bhanuwadas and his family, who are trying to fulfill a small dream in their lives. But by telling the story of the crises they accidentally face, the story moves into the socio-political environment of contemporary Maharashtra. Bhanuvadas’ story is both a heartwarming family film and a suspenseful thriller, as he finally has to fight for his survival against those who would crush his dreams.
Prasad Oak is back with a socially relevant subject, this time with Nagraj Manjule’s brother Bhushan Manjule in an equally important role. Prasad Oak, who plays the role of journalist, who seeks the truth behind the death of a famous justice, has given the best performance of his career as always.
This film also has the distinction of being the first Marathi film to be produced by technicians from the Malayalam film industry, which produces some of the best films in India, alongside the best versatile Marathi actors. The film’s biggest highlight is the heartwarming songs that are appropriate for the story. Vinu Thomas, the music director of the famous Malayalam movie ‘Drishyam’, has composed the music for the lyrics of Guru Thakur and Mandar Cholkar.
