The much-talked-about Marathi film Reel Star, set to release across Maharashtra on October 17, has taken another exciting step with the launch of its soulful music. Blending a meaningful storyline with melodious tunes, the film promises to strike both emotional and inspirational chords with audiences. The grand music launch ceremony was held at the Swatantryaveer Savarkar Auditorium, Shivaji Park, Dadar, in the presence of the film’s cast, crew, and producers. The film’s songs will be presented to music lovers under the Saregama label.
Produced under the banners of J-Fives Entertainment, Phoenix Group, and Initiative Films, Reel Star is backed by producers Jose Abraham, Monica, and Nishil Kambati, and presented by Nasir Khan and Gurvinder Singh of Nirmaldeep Production. Directed by Simmy and Robin, who earlier helmed the Hindi-Marathi film Anya, the film narrates the moving journey of Bhanudas, a street vendor chasing his dreams for a better life, with struggles that reflect the resilience of the common man.
The lead role in Reel Star is essayed by Bhushan Manjule, brother of acclaimed filmmaker Nagraj Manjule, while Prasad Oak appears in a significant role as a journalist. The ensemble cast includes Milind Shinde, Kailas Waghmare, Urmila Jagtap, Ruchira Jadhav, Swapnil Rajshekhar, Shubhangi Latkar, Vijay Patkar, Anant Mahadevan, and many more, along with child actors Arjun Gaykar and Tanushka Mhadse in pivotal roles.
The film Reel Star features five soulful tracks, capturing varied moods and moments. “Drishyam”-fame composer Vinu Thomas has created four of them, while Shubham Bhat, an assistant to maestro A. R. Rahman, has composed the powerful number “Ghaav De Jara Ra…”. Lyricists Mandar Cholkar, Guru Thakur, and Vaibhav Deshmukh have penned verses that are beautifully rendered by singers Abhijeet Kosambi, Sayli Kamble, Rohit Raut, Manish Rajgire, Mugdha Karhade, and Adarsh Shinde. Each song promises to add depth to the film’s storytelling.
With a screenplay by Sudhir Kulkarni, assistant to Nagraj Manjule, Reel Star is further enriched by the work of a skilled technical team: Bhagwat Sonawane (make-up), Rani Wankhade (costumes), Deepak Pandey (casting), Rohit Kulkarni (associate director), Mahendra Patil (creative producer), Nandu Acharekar (chief associate director), Rahul Sharma and Sameer Chitnavis (production design), and Nilesh Rasal (art direction).
With its stirring music, strong performances, and a relatable story of dreams and determination, Reel Star is all set to connect deeply with audiences when it arrives in cinemas this October.
