My Friend Ganesha fame writer and director Rajiv Ruia has made many Hindi films along with two Marathi films. Now he is debuting in Gujarati film industry with upcoming multi-starrer film JALSO – A FAMILY INVITATION releasing on 13 June 2025.
About the film Rajiv Ruia says, “For three years, the subject was in my mind. However, it was planned to be made in Hindi. But many of my friends said that the subject is more suitable for Gujarati film. Because, Gujarati people celebrate every occasion with grandeur specially wedding. The story of film is about a family which want to celebrate the son’s wedding in a magnificent manner. Secondly now a day Gujarati families plan big fat wedding as destination wadding. So here presenting ‘The Big Fat Destination Wedding’ JALSO – A FAMILY INVITATION. It’s an invitation to audience to join as family.”
Rajiv Ruia directorial the film stars ensemble star cast as Aruna Irani, Dharmesh Vyas, Bhavin Bhanushali, Pooja Joshi, Hemant Pandey, Hiten Tejwani, Gauri Pradhan Tejwani, Hemang Dave, Utsav Naik, Naksh Raj, Chhaya Vora, Sonali Desai, Morli Patel, Padmesh Pandit, Kurush Deboo, Ishika Shirsat, Preeti Goswami, Hansi Parmar, Jay Patel, Nirav Patel with Ojas Rawal and Malhar Thaker in special appearance.
Veteran actress Aruna Irani is doing comeback with this film. “It is true that Arunaji is doing Gujarati film after five to six years. But I have been associated with Arunaji for years. I did two films with her while I was working as an assistant. When I started about the film, she was in my mind for the character of Dadi, the head of the family. Dadi is strict as well as modern character. Arunaji is absolutely perfect for a character with such a contradictory mentality. When I narrated the story, she also felt that there could not be a better role for the comeback, adds Rajiv Ruia.
Rajiv Ruia has done more than 200 music videos. Recently first song from JALSO “Rasiya” was released getting tremendous response. The song has already crossed 297K views. The music is composed by Rajesh Atibal, lyrics by Yash Eshwari, sung by Divya Kumar and Shruti Pathak.
