For actors, there are always some roles that will be more special than others. For Priyanshu Painyuli, Rashmi Rocket is that film that felt attached to right from the time he heard the script. And the fact that he plays an army officer in the movie, gave him sheer joy. Growing up in an army family in Bangalore, Priyanshu instantly connected with the character and his way of life.
Incidentally, for Akarsh Khurana, who has known Priyanshu from their theatre days together, was certain that the role is a custom fit for the young actor. But it was his father, Lt. Col V. K Painyuli who was over the moon when he heard about his son’s next film.
Priyanshu says, “My father retired as a colonel in the army. It’s a beautiful story and when the role first came to me, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. It’s a world I understand and am familiar with. So I instantly felt at home. But more than me, my father was excited that I am going to play an army officer. The uniform is a badge of honor officers wear. Wearing a uniform is a matter of great pride and responsibility. I want to play it with utmost sincerity and dedication. This is a character that has shades of both strength and vulnerability. I did wish to join the army when I was really young; you always do when you see your father in uniform. But now as an actor, it will be great to fulfill that desire at least on screen. It’s a fantastic character and I can’t wait for the film to start.”
