The four-letter word love has a heavy meaning, says Nupur Joshi. Her idea of love is simple. The Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai explains that when two perfectly imperfect pieces fit together, that’s when the spark of love is initiated.
“I think love is just about everything that envelopes someone’s feelings for another. Now, that, I say, regardless of only humans. Love is the very connection between them, and from then the emotions and gestures and reciprocation and all that. To say that love is a journey won’t be wrong. I also believe we have many soul mates in our entire lifetime. How else can I explain the strong affection I have for all the wonderful people in my life, be it my family, friends or colleagues? Perhaps the most talked about form of love is the one that is romantic,” she says.
When people talk about how social media has blurred the difference between real and fake love, it breaks the actor’s heart.
“I’m such an old-school soul. Most of the time I find myself imagining that I’m perhaps born into the wrong era… I have the shyness of the 60’s, coyness of 70’s, and oh, the love letters of the 80’s. My generation today is absolutely just unlucky to not be able to witness and live those golden days! Having said that, I do feel that time changes because sometimes they need to. I also feel at times that social media helps people to find love as well. But, then, also, hasn’t love always been hard to find?” she questions.
Even if one falls in love, giving time these days is an issue. “That I think really depends on person to person. However romantic at heart one is, I feel, love is a constant effort. Once the mushy feeling and the butterflies in the stomach have settled and the violins and guitars have stopped, all that there is, is a reality that only can become beautiful with the efforts of those involved. Whether love is an illusion or not is a tricky question. Perhaps it is. Who knows? But then I don’t think it is or else would be denying all the forms of love,” Nupur Joshi adds.
It is often said that celebrities are always chasing fame, and they don’t find any love. “This is absolutely untrue! The very first love we have and in abundance and all greatness is love of our fans. So this is what we all are chasing, the pure ‘human-love’. But if you’re talking about personal relationships and the hardships of finding love, well, then I’ll just say that we are going through the same thing when it comes to love. Our personal lives just are on the radar every now and then, but in the end, I face and feel the same thing in my heart as that girl working on a 9-5 office job, dreaming of finding true love and happiness. That reminds me of those lines from a song that goes like ‘Don’t we all need love…’,” she ends with a smile.
