A large number of farmer suicides occur in the cotton belt of Vidarbha, Marathwada and Khandesh. This is a very sensitive topic and work on ‘Cotton Soil Techniques’ needs to be done in this context. Shyam Pethkar had previously presented the issue of farmer suicide in a very effective manner through the film ‘Goshta Chhoti Dongaravdhi’ and now in the upcoming film TERAV, he has written a film on the struggle of a farmer’s wife, a single woman who is left behind after his husband committed suicide. The movie is about her journey of facing problems. Harish Ithape, an experimental theater director from Vidarbha, has brilliantly directed this film. Nitin Gadkari said, “I congratulate the producer Mr. Narendra Jichkar of Anjanikrupa Productions for showing the sensitivity to stand as a producer behind a film that did not make commercial profit. I appeal everyone to watch this film.”
The film is entirely made in Vidarbha language and has over 90% cast from Vidarbha. Shyam Pethkar said that the cinematography of the film was done by well-known cinematographer Suresh Deshmane with great passion.
The film revolves around the life struggles of single women in family after husband’s suicide and shows how she fights against adversity without fear. The film stars established artists like Kiran Khoje, Sandeep Pathak, Kiran Mane, Neha Dandale along with Vidarbha actors Madhubhaiya Joshi, Shraddhatai Telang, Prabhakar Ambone, Vatsala Polkamwar, Praveen Ingle, Devendra Lute, Yashwant Chopde, Sharvari Pethkar, Samhita Ithape, Vaidehi Chaure, Dilip Devarankar.
