Nidhi Shetty, who was earlier seen in Jabb Zodiacs Met directed by Ishika Shahi, has now stepped into the popular television show Anupamaa as the character Prerna. Reflecting on her journey in the entertainment industry, Nidhi shares that the path to acting has been a long but fulfilling one.
“I have been part of the industry for nearly nine years now. I began my career with several advertising campaigns and digital videos, especially with platforms like FilterCopy. After completing my college education, I decided to fully dedicate myself to acting. Looking back, I realise that performing was always something I loved,” Nidhi Shetty says. “My parents often tell me that even as a child I enjoyed music and dancing, and I would start performing whenever a song played. As I grew older and started understanding the industry better, every time I watched a film or television show I would think, ‘This is exactly what I want to do.’”
Interestingly, joining Anupamaa has a special emotional connection for her family. “My entire family watches the show regularly. In fact, it was my mother’s dream that one day I would get an opportunity to work with Director’s Kut Productions,”Nidhi Shetty reveals. “She has followed almost every show created by Rajan Shahi and admires his work a lot. I had actually auditioned earlier for a few roles in the show but things didn’t work out then. When this role finally came my way, it truly felt like everything had fallen into place at the right moment.”
Speaking about stepping into an already loved character, Nidhi Shetty admits there is always a certain amount of pressure. “When you join a show that has such a strong audience base, expectations are naturally high. But I try not to dwell on that. My focus is simply on performing honestly and giving my best in every scene,” she explains.
She also shares a warm bond with director Ishika Shahi, with whom she has previously collaborated. “Ishika is not only a talented director but also a wonderful friend. She is extremely dedicated and always knows exactly how she wants a scene to unfold,” Nidhi Shetty says. “For now, my only goal is to do justice to Prerna and hope that the audience embraces me in this role,” she adds with a smile.
