Maestros Pandit Shivkumar Sharma and Zakir Hussain shared the stage for a soulful fusion

Nrityacharya Pt. Gaurishankar Foundation, a leading music and dance institute in India named after the revered Kathak Guru & choreographer Pt. Gaurishankarji, in partnership with EXHICON Group presents the Living Legends – a live performance & felicitation of Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma and Ustaad Zakir Hussain at Mumbai. Maestros Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma and Zakir Hussain share the stage for a soulful fusion. Pandit Gaurishankar was the only Indian artist to perform and felicitated by Adolf Hitler in 1936 during Berlin Olympics.

The evening began with Prachi Shah welcoming the guests. She told, Today’s performance will be etched in History because Zakir Hussain’s father Ustaad Allahrakha Khan was honored by Bhimashankar and now his son Virendra Shankar is honoring Zakirji.

Grandson of Pt. Gaurishankar and Trustee of Pt Gauishankar Foundation Mr. Virendra Shankar was glad that both the maestros agreed to perform for the foundation of his grandfather. He told, ‘It is a matter of great pride that Pt. Gaurishankar Foundation is felicitating Living Legends in India like Pandit Shivkumar Sharma and Ustaad Zakir Hussain. This is a great way to pay rich tribute to my legendary grandfather Pt Gaurishankar who has been associated with the Indian music and film industry.”

M Q Syed, Managing Director of EXHICON Group, said, ‘It is an honor and privilege for us to be associated with this prestigious event being organised by Pt Gaurishankar Foundation for felicitating eminent personalities from the world of music. We have left no stone unturned in order to ensure that we have made the best arrangements for ensuring success of this Living Legends event.’ He announced the biggest convention center in Pune with the grand performance by legends.

The performance was soulful and the audience kept applauding. Towards the end Pandit Bhima Shankar felicitated the maestros with a souvenir. The sight was rare and musical.
