Actor Jatin Shah is playing the role of Karanveer in popular content creator Mitu’s new series “Nishabd”. It has been produced and co-directed by Mitu and revolves around the LGBTQIA+ community.
Asked if he was apprehensive about taking up the role, Jatin said, “Not at all. I believe love is about humans and not caste, creed or sexuality”, adding, “I have played this role only once and it gives me immense excitement to read and learn about a community that is still being accepted and evolving with so much courage.”
The actor also believes that it’s time that the community gets accepted. He said, “I honestly think conversations have happened enough and the LGBT community is as normal a part of society as opposite gender lovers are. So graceful acceptance is what is required.”
Jatin Shah further added, “I accepted this role because of Mitu ma’am. She is an evolving clock of learning and the character I was offered helped me understand the LGBT community so much more. It also made me understand the love of humans even more.
Sharing his experience of working with Mitu, he said, “It has always been a pleasure working with Mitu. She has seen me grow over the past 15 years as an actor and I know working with her will always make me learn more than I already know.”
“I am honoured to be a part of a show such as this, which is highlighting a major (earlier neglected, but extremely important) issue in the society,” Jatin concluded.
Jatin has come a long way. In his 20 years career he has done shows like Saath Rahega Always, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kabhi Kabhii Pyaar Kabhi Kabhii Yaar, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Kasturi, Adalat, Meri Maa, Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega, Pavutra Bhagya and more. He participated in Nach Baliye season 4 with his ex-wife Priya Bhatija.
