Horror-comedy has long been a genre that intrigues audiences, and the upcoming Marathi film ‘Hukkey’ promises to deliver a thrilling new take on it. Centered on the story of four friends whose lives take an eerie yet hilarious turn, the film’s first look has generated a wave of excitement following the release of its striking poster. With its unconventional concept and impressive ensemble cast, Hukkey has quickly become the buzz of social media—especially after Bollywood star Varun Dhawan shared the film’s first look on his platforms, amplifying its reach and anticipation.
Produced by Nitin M Rokade, Sunanda Kaluskar, Vinayak Pashte, and Shweta Sanjay Thakre, with Sudhir Khot and Raees Khan as co-producers, the film Hukkey is a joint venture between Magic Swan Studios and NMR Movies. Written and directed by Nitin M Rokade, the film’s first look perfectly encapsulates its chilling yet entertaining spirit. It begins with a haunting visual—the blood-red eye of a crow—instantly setting a spine-tingling tone. The scene then transitions to fishermen dragging boats along a desolate shore, before introducing four carefree youngsters—three boys and a girl—known as the “Four Losers.” Their adventure soon descends into a night of supernatural chaos, filled with fear, laughter, and mystery.
Breaking away from conventional horror-comedy tropes, Hukkey offers a fresh cinematic flavor. The film stars Prathamesh Parab, one of Marathi cinema’s most loved actors, alongside the comic powerhouse Pandharinath “Paddy” Kamble, forming a dynamic duo that promises laughter amid the scares.
Director Nitin M Rokade describes the first look as “short, impactful, and attention-grabbing,” designed to highlight the film’s tone through its visuals, performances, and atmospheric background score. He believes it sets the stage perfectly for the movie’s theatrical release.
The screenplay is co-written by Nitin M Rokade, Sandeep Kumar Roy, and Madhulita Das, with contributions from Ninad Pathak and Sanjay Navgire. The cast also includes Ravi Kishor, Prashant Mohite, Mahesh Patil, Aarti Chaubal, Varsha Dhandale, Mohak Kansara, and Pankaj Vishnu.
Music is composed by Raghavendra V.—making his Marathi debut—and the duo Prafull-Swapnil, with Farooq Khan on cinematography, Santosh Ganpat Palavankar and Imran Malgunkar handling choreography, and thrilling action sequences by Sansh Kumar and Nitin M Rokade.
