Popular Hindi GEC &TV is set to expand its bouquet of light-hearted and relatable storytelling with its upcoming divine dramedy Hey Bhagwaan – Kitna Badal Gaya Insaan!. Set against the spiritual landscape of Ujjain, the show promises a refreshing blend of slice-of-life humour, emotional moments and a gentle mythological twist. Adding gravitas to the narrative is veteran actor Tarun Khanna, known for his impactful portrayals of mythological characters. This time, he steps into the revered role of Mahadev, presenting a version of the deity that is both divine and disarmingly human. The show attempts to bring God closer to everyday life, weaving humour and warmth into a spiritual premise.
Sharing his excitement, Tarun Khanna says portraying Mahadev in this new light has been a creatively fulfilling journey. He describes this interpretation of Shiva as ruggedly charming, quietly observant and occasionally amused by the contradictions of human behaviour. What sets this avatar apart, he explains, is the way Mahadev communicates — through wit, riddles and references that resonate with today’s generation, making him relatable in an entirely new way. The narrative explores a playful dimension of divinity, where Mahadev walks among humans, subtly guiding them while celestial aides appear in human form, known only to Mahesh.
On a personal note, Tarun Khanna adds that he feels deeply connected to Shivji’s philosophy. Often referred to as Bholenath, the deity embodies innocence, compassion and profound wisdom — a balance Tarun strives to reflect on screen. The premise of God descending to Earth and living like an ordinary human in Ujjain naturally gives rise to moments that are humorous, emotional and thought-provoking. While audiences have seen Mahadev on Mount Kailash, Mahadev in Ujjain offers a completely fresh experience. Hey Bhagwaan – Kitna Badal Gaya Insaan! will premiere soon on &TV and stream exclusively on ZEE5 (Hindi feed).
