When Mother Earth calls, you never keep her on hold. And well, citizens of Powai, Mumbai did just that this weekend as they ushered in the ‘ Earth Hour’ with great joy and enthusiasm. Viveck Shettyy and his band comprising of Joe Rodrigues, Francis D’souza, Wilburn D’costa and Vaibhav Jadhav took centre stage as they regaled the audience with all genres of music.
The highlight of the performance was a special Earth Hour song specially written for the occasion by Viveck Shettyy which was aptly titled “Happy Earth Hour Mumbai” and had some very interesting lyrics like ” Haath ko badake apne bati ko bujaya ?” and “Aane wale iss pidi ko tofa koi dena “. This Earth hour initiative at Verona Fountains, Hiranandani Gardens, Powai was spearheaded by Young Environmentalists headed by Elsie Gabriel. Mukesh Rishi, a Powai Resident and an avid supporter of environmental causes cheered his friend Viveck Shettyy as tunes of “Ye Zameen Ga Rahi hai” filled the air.
Viveck Shettyy, the lead vocalist of the band has also lent his voice to a Bollywood flick and is scheduled to sing for two more films this year. His vocal skills were very well appreciated by the energetic audience and screams of “once more” filled the air. As the clock struck 9, the lights were completely switched by the residents of the area in a massive show of support to this Earth hour initiative. Nearly 300 people were grooving amidst candle lights as Viveck Shettyy and band further raised the temperature with popular numbers like “Hare Rama, Hare Krishna” and “Wanna be my Chhammak Chhallo” and “Summer of 69”. Gary Richardson hit the dance floor with great gusto.
Mr. Daniel, General Manager of the popular Rodas Hotel in Powai also made his presence felt to support the cause.
