Multifaceted actor-lyricist Chakori Dwivedi is basking in the overwhelming response to ‘Jee Liya’, the evocative romantic track from the Bollywood film Tu Yaa Main, starring Adarsh Gourav and Shanaya Kapoor. Continuing to carve a distinctive space for herself in the entertainment industry, Chakori has collaborated with Adarsh as the lyricist of the song, with music composed by Adarsh Gourav and Aditya N. Reflecting the mood of contemporary romance through emotional honesty and understated warmth, the track has swiftly emerged as a Gen Z love anthem, resonating strongly across digital platforms and live showcases, including the recently concluded Kala Ghoda Arts Festival.
‘Jee Liya’ arrives at a pivotal juncture in the film’s narrative, subtly underscoring the evolving relationship between the lead characters. Rather than leaning into dramatic, overtly filmy expressions of love, the lyrics embrace simplicity and lived-in emotion. Chakori’s writing captures intimacy through fleeting glances, quiet comfort and the courage to be vulnerable. By focusing on small, meaningful moments and personal freedom within a relationship, the song adds an authentic layer to the storytelling, making the romance feel relatable and real. Its gentle warmth has found a natural home in late-night playlists, long drives and Valentine’s season moods.
Speaking about the collaboration, Chakori shares that actor Dheer Hira introduced her to Adarsh, with whom she had previously worked on an independent track. When he approached her with ‘Jee Liya’, he had a clear emotional core in mind, which gave her a strong starting point. She credits director Bejoy Nambiar for instantly connecting with the song and recognising its narrative depth, eventually including both the original and duet versions in the film.
Balancing her careers seamlessly, Chakori’s writing credits include Class and Ziddi Girls. As an actor, she has featured in Home Shanti and Agra Affair, and will next be seen in Ek Din. With ‘Jee Liya’, Chakori further establishes herself as a promising creative force in Hindi cinema and streaming.
