India’s favourite pastime is now in a competitive avatar with the second edition of Pro-Panja League! Panja, or arm-wrestling, is one of the most iconic sports of all times. Having successfully drawn people across all ages and genders, Parvin Dabas and Preeti Jhangiani’s Pro-Panja League, lets the forearms of their participants do the talking. Emulating the league format, Panja (arm-wrestling), a sport seeped in Indianness, saw a tough competition.
Harman Mann v/s Sameer VT saw Sameer VT’s victory while Attar Singh vs Mohammed Hashim saw Mohammed Hashim emerge victorious. In the women’s segment, Karishma Kapoor v/s Parampreet Kaur saw the latter’s winning while Madhura KN v/s Anslet Jose saw Madhura KN triumphant.
In a bid to promote inclusiveness of the especially abled, Manish Kumar v/s Butta Singh was scheduled which saw Manish Kumar score an inspiring victory. Both Manish and Butta have been battling polio!
Apart from these, the audiences also witnessed interesting line-ups featuring Sanjay Deswal v/s Syed Mahaboob and Shruti Bawa v/s Jincy Jose which saw Sanjay Deswal and Jincy Jose triumph over their opponents. The co-main event for the 80kgs Champion belt, Karaj Virk v/s Sachin Goyal which, interestingly, was actually a rematch which saw Karaj Virk retain his championship.
The main event for the Mega Champion Belt and the title of the No. 1 Arm-Wrestler of India at the Pro-Panja League saw Sunil Kumar v/s Dilshad that saw Sunil emerge victorious! This eventful line-up for the Pro-Panja League was followed by inspiring performances for the eager and energetic crowds.
Besides Parvin Dabas and Preeti Jhangiani, the tournament held at Radio Club Pier, Colaba, witnessed actor Ranvir Shorey, Miss India World Manasa Varanasi, Miss Grand India Manika Sheokand and Miss India Runner Up Manya Singh, Pran Pratim Chaliha (Treasurer of Indian Arm Wrestling Federation), Hashim Reza Zaveth (President of Indian Arm Wrestling Federation), Mustafa Ali (Head Referee of Indian Arm Wrestling Federation) among other dignitaries and participants of the league. An interesting facet of the evening was that the newly crowned Miss India Beauties had a special entry. The tournament evening was concluded with prizes and the Pro-Panja League trophy distribution to the winners by the guests and dignitaries!
