Anil Kapoor Takes Legal Action to Safeguard Personality Rights

He has filed a lawsuit in the Delhi High Court, seeking a permanent injunction against the unauthorized utilization of his name, voice, signature, image, or any characteristic exclusively associated with him for personal or commercial purposes without his consent. This legal move underscores Kapoor’s dedication to preserving his identity and reputation, particularly in an era marked by extensive digital content sharing.
Anil Kapoor Perspective on the Legal Suit
Expressing his perspective on the legal action, Anil Kapoor explains, “I have filed a suit in the Delhi High Court, represented by my lawyer Mr. Ameet Naik, to safeguard my personality rights, including my name, image, likeness, voice, and other attributes from any form of misuse, particularly in the digital realm. The suit highlights several instances of misusing my attributes.”
Anil Kapoor further adds, “After a comprehensive hearing, the court has issued an order recognizing my personality rights and restraining all offenders from misappropriating my personality attributes, such as my name, image, likeness, and voice, without my explicit permission. This includes the use of artificial intelligence, deep fakes, GIFs, and other methods. My intent is not to impede anyone’s freedom of expression or impose penalties. My personality represents a lifetime of hard work, and I’ve put in considerable effort to establish it. Through this lawsuit, I am seeking the protection of my personality rights to prevent any form of misuse, especially given the current landscape with rapid technological advancements, including artificial intelligence, which can easily be misused to the detriment of personality rights owners.”
