Disney+ Hotstar launched a bouquet of short-format web series under the banner Quix, which will provide easy viewing entertainment for the viewers. One web series which released is loved by the audiences is ‘Chattis Aur Maina’. People like the girl next door character of ‘Dhani’ essayed by singer turned actor Amika Shail.
The story revolves around a group of girls who have a dance troupe titled ‘Visphotak Angels’ and their trials & tribulations when they come to perform for the wedding season in the Indian town of ‘Dhooppur’. Commenting on the occasion Amika said, “The story is very grounded and practical. I am sure that the audience will connect with the story. It has real-world elements of love, politics, relationships, marriage, online dating, friends, societal pressure, parental pressure, etc. My character is of a naive village belle, who is not career-oriented and her only goal is to get married. It is totally different from what I am in real life.”
Directed by Shraddha Pasi, the series features Amika as a dancer. “It is like a dream come true. Dancing on five numbers in a single web series made me give in to the script and one tick on my bucket list. Being a singer, it was not very difficult for me to understand musical beats and grove to them – however, professional dancing required a lot of learning and hard work. Also, we had limited time in hand to learn and shoot, due to the pandemic and the subsequent nationwide lockdown. With the help of the great choreography team, I managed to pull off the performances to the best of my abilities and was glad that the direction team liked them,” said an excited Amika as she signed off for the moment.
