With short films becoming a flourishing model for film folks to showcase their talent, all artistes and filmmakers are hopping onto the bandwagon of the digital format’s rising popularity.
Aptly timed for a Gandhi Jayanti release, leading short film company Humara Movie has recently acquired actor Prashantt Guptha’s inspirational short film, ‘TU’. Written and directed by debutante Sandeep Chandrra, this 17 minute film takes place in one location and is essentially one scene performed by Prashantt playing a dual character. Mahatma Gandhi said “You must be the change you want to see in the world”. On the birth anniversary of this great man let us introspect. Look within to find out what really matters. Learn to strive for something beyond the everyday rat race.
The plot revolves a mid 30’s man walking into a bar, reeling in his long built angst and frustrations about his life. One fine night, he has about of body encounter with his spirit and over the course of a 15 minute dialogue, he comes out of his misery. The film ends with a heart-warming and powerful poem written and rendered by Prashantt, himself.
Prashantt Guptha, who hails originally from New York, has previously played prominent roles in the films NEERJA, the National Award winning film IRADA, ISSAQ and IDENTITY CARD. This film marks his foray into the short film domain. In a brief chat with director Sandeep Chandrra, he expressed, “I know the message would inspire each and everyone who watches it, but I was most blown by how quickly Prashantt Guptha transformed himself on set, to complete the shoot of both characters within 7 hours.”
