Sometimes You Have Just 15 Minutes to Prepare: Manraj Singh on the Reality of Daily Soaps

Playing Harshvardhan in Tumm Se Tumm Tak Has Been My Toughest Role, Says Manraj Singh

Tumm Se Tumm Tak, produced by Prateek Sharma and Parth Shah under the banner of Studio LSD, continues to engage viewers with its emotionally intense narrative and layered characters. Actor Manraj Singh, who plays the role of Harshvardhan in the show, says the character has been one of the most demanding roles of his career so far.

Harshvardhan, according to Manraj, is a deeply complex character with several emotional shades, which constantly challenges him as a performer. “Characters that carry emotional depth are always difficult to portray. In real life, you may be dealing with many things personally, but the moment you step into the character, you must give your hundred percent. That’s what the producers, the channel and, most importantly, the audience expect from you,” he shared.

The actor also spoke about the intense schedules that come with working in daily soaps, where actors often have very limited time to prepare for scenes. “There are days when you get to know about a scene barely 15 minutes before it is shot. Some of these scenes require heavy emotional involvement and mental focus because you might have to shift between completely different states of mind,” he explained.

He further added that the unpredictability of daily shoots can be particularly challenging. “Sometimes I arrive on set early in the morning for a 7 am shift feeling fresh and energetic, and suddenly I am told that I have to perform a breakdown scene. Preparing for something so intense within minutes and delivering it convincingly in just one or two takes is not easy, especially when time is limited. In daily soaps, you really have to stay alert and give a performance that feels authentic and cinematic. But when viewers appreciate your work, it makes every effort worthwhile,” Manraj said.

Interestingly, the actor also revealed that before his shoot began, he had to wait nearly three to four months as the makers were carefully building the show’s unique concept. Despite the challenges, Manraj remains committed to giving his best. “I always try to be honest with my performance. Recognition may come sooner or later, but the love from audiences keeps me motivated,” he concluded.
