The beloved television show Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain!, produced by Sanjay and Binaiferr Kohli’s Edit II, is making its way to the big screen. While the release date is yet to be announced, fans can rejoice as the original cast will reprise their iconic roles. Among them, Shubhangi Atre, who plays the much-loved Angoori Bhabhi, is set to make her Bollywood debut and admits to feeling both excited and nervous.
Expressing her thoughts on transitioning from television to film, Shubhangi Atre said, “As an actor and artist, I always give my 100%—whether it’s TV, films, OTT, or theatre. Since Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain! is being made into a movie, the essence of my role remains the same, but the experience is quite different. There’s a mix of nervousness and excitement.”
Despite playing Angoori for years, she finds performing for a film to be a unique challenge. “Even though I know this character inside out, working on a film set feels different. I’m putting in my best effort, just as I always do. I’m truly happy, but at the same time, there’s a bit of anxiety. I hope my fans shower me with love and blessings,” she added.
Shubhangi Atre also highlighted the contrast between filming for television and cinema. “There are new actors joining us, so building chemistry with them is a fresh experience. On TV, we often improvise, but in a film, everything is precise and structured. Since a movie runs only for 2 to 2.5 hours, we can’t afford to add unnecessary dialogues like we sometimes do in daily shoots. The scale is grander, and the process is more refined, but I’m thoroughly enjoying it.”
Adding an exciting twist, Shubhangi will also be seen performing action sequences. “This is something new for me, and I can’t wait to see how it turns out on screen,” she shared.
She praised her co-stars, including the new additions, for their dedication. “Everyone is putting in their heart and soul to make this movie a success. As actors, we always have the hunger to perform well, and that energy is visible on set.”
For Shubhangi Atre, this project holds deep personal significance. “It’s a dream come true, not just for me, but for my parents. My father is battling cancer, but he is incredibly happy about this film. He told me that once it releases, we’ll go to the theatre together to watch it. That thought alone makes me emotional.”
With gratitude in her heart, she concluded, “Whatever I am today is because of my parents. I owe everything to them.”
