Everyone is now aware that Sujay Dahake, who won the National award for his debut film Shaala has always pushed the boundaries of Marathi cinema. Shyamchi Aai goes even further by making it in Black and White and showcasing the pre-independence era. Sujay and his team are now busy scouting for the right boy to essay the role of Shyam in the film.
Sujay has opted for a statewide search for the actor to play the role of Shyam for the film which Amruta Arun Rao produces. He has commenced the search for the right Maharashtrian face to play the part of Shyam in his movie. He has also made a publicity brochure requesting for boys in the age group of 8 to 12 to perform a one minute monologue to essay the role of Shyam in the film. Parents of the kids are requested to abide by the conditions set by the production company. The desirous boys should be between 8 and 12 and should be able to send a one-minute long monologue and email or WhatsApp it after recording on their mobile phones to the mentioned email and phone number. The last date for sending the video is December 30, 2021, after which the contest will come to an end. Out of the contestants, the production company will shortlist ten boys. They will be transported to Mumbai and asked to participate in a three-day acting workshop. Finally, one boy among the ten will be selected to play the role of Shyam in the film. Sujay Dahake, who has to his credit out of the box films like Shaala, Phuntroo, Ajoba, Kesari etc., celebrated the 75th year of Indian Independence by announcing the poster release of his movie Shyamchi Aai on Independence Day on August 15 this year. The film is an adaptation of the bestselling novel by Sane Guruji. The current year also happens to be the 150th birth anniversary of the father of Indian Cinema Dadasaheb Phalke. The film Shyamchi Aai will be made in Black & White and released during the auspicious occasion of Diwali next year.
