Navdeep Chhabra is back with ‘The Meeeting’

Actor Navdeep Chhabra who made his Bollywood debut with Kuch Kuch Locha Hai is now gearing up for his next release. Sharing Screen space with Sunny Leone and Ram Kapoor was a learning experience for this Delhi boy and now he is back on screen with a short film, The Meeeting.

The Meeeting is a slice of life story of friendship, love and reunions with a twist in the tale. The film captures subtle nuances of relationships and makes one believe in love. Directed by Aneeta Patel, Navdeep is seen in a lead role with Anushka Ghorpade (The Bar, 2018 & She’s D One, 2018).

Talking about his journey in Bollywood, Navdeep stated, “After Kuch Kuch Locha Hain I was disillusioned. I was a rank newcomer with no connections in the film industry and I was naïve. Trusting people comes naturally to me and why should it be any other way? I’m thankful that I got to work with a veteran Actor like Ram Kapoor. Every day was a learning experience; Ram Sir guided me a lot during the time. After the film released I got a reality check. It was a tailspin of lows but I fought it and got back on track to honing my craft and studying films. Today I feel my journey has just started and there is so much out there to explore”.

He added, “There were too many people advising me on my next move and sometimes the clutter of incessant chatter can really prove disturbing even though the people around meant well. My director Aneeta Patel gave me a one line brief and her conviction in the story got me going. I know I have miles to walk but every actor wants to be a part of a story that can resonate with the audience. The meeeting certainly is one of those stories.”

The Meeeting is about love finding its way back, against the odds of distance and time- an aspect about love that rekindles hope..  IJC Entertainment in association with That Girl who makes films, The Meeeting is now streaming live on Humara Movie.

We spoke to Karishma and this is what she has to say, “It was a great experience working with Darshan. He is a friend and I know him from before. So it was comfortable shooting with him.  The whole team was amazing. Few days before the shoot, we were discussing on how to come up with a back story even if it’s a music video. We both sat down and came up with a back story for the characters. I was really surprised for Darshan’ acting skills. I remember sitting behind the screen and Darshan was acting and I remember I cried and I told him that he should get the next Devdas character. He is also a great actor as well as a great singer. What I liked about my bit was that they made me look very real and very innocent. They did this no makeup look which I had never done before and it worked really well. It’s something I wanted to do and I am in love with it. This song is close to me because I have also gone through heartbreaks and things like that so yeah its been a special one for me.”

The music video is out now and we wish Karishma and Darshan all the very best for the same.

‘Angry Indian Goddess’ actor Pavleen Gujral in a Ruskin Bond story

Celebrated author Ruskin Bond’s stories have often hit the marquee with top notch directors such as Shyam Benegal and Vishal Bhardwaj been lured by Bond’s deft writing and plotlines.  Angry Indian Goddess actor, Pavleen Gujral gets lucky to feature in the latest Ruskin Bond screen translation- Parchhayee which is a collection of short ghost stories.  Bollywood’s finest actors have featured in earlier screen adaptations of Ruskin Bond’s stories. Pavleen Gujral joins the list now with ‘Astley Ka Intezar’, the last installment of Parchayee.

Paveleen plays the role of chukti, a doting daughter who is worried for her father as forces from the nether world disturb her otherwise uneventful life.  ‘Astley Ka Intezar’ is shot in an abandoned bunglow in Goa which adds to the spine chilling horror, the show has to offer. Pavleen shares screen space with Abraar Zahoor, Vikram Kochar and veteran actor Shakti Kapoor.

Talking about being a part of a Ruskin Bond story, actor Pavleen Gujral said, “I was thrilled to be a part of Parchhayee. Not every day, a Ruskin Bond story gets made into a film or a series. If you recall the films made on Ruskin Bond stories you will remember the characters as being distinct and unusual. It’s difficult to bring such distinct characters together and that too if it is a horror story. My director Samimitra has done a swell job and brought all the characters alive. It’s a gripping watch”.

She added, “Horror as a genre is very challenging. There are no real life references to draw from. It also gives a lot of room for imagination and improvisation. So as an actor is there is a lot of creative satisfaction you can draw and if the characters are nuanced then there can’t be anything more interesting than this genre”.

The show is directed by Samimitra Das who has been part of Hindi feature films such as Lootera and Commando in the past. It is also co-directed by Aniruddha Chowdhury (Director of Pink). Produced by Banijay Asia, Parchhayee is now streaming on Zee 5 with ‘Astley Ka Intezaar’ as its last installment.

While the actor’s social media is being flooded with congratulatory message for the series, Pavleen in busy shooting in Shimla for her next.
