THE CREW – First Russian film in India releasing on 20th January 2017


The Crew is the first Russian film to be released in India and is a much anticipated one. This move comes as a result of the pact signed between Indian PM Mr. Narendra Modi and his Russian counterpart Mr. Vladimir Putin. There were quite a few pacts that were signed upon and cultural ties were one of then. Russia and India have always had very friendly relations and it will soon celebrate 75 years of its diplomatic ties. The Crew is the first film in recent times to strengthen these ties. The awe-inspiring graphics and an edge of the seat thriller that this movie is, has raised the quality bars high. 

The film is slated to release in India on the 20th Of January and is brought to India by RG Studios. It is also slated to be remade in Hindi. The film is an English dubbed version of the blockbuster Russian film Ekipazh. Mr. Irfan Siddiqui, co founder of RG Studios further adds “The movie talks about courage and humanity, as this focuses on the rescue of people stuck in a volcano, and the thrilling part is that this operation takes place mid air, how? Your questions will be answered on 20th Jan”. The film is an action thriller and is at par with Hollywood films.

The Crew is a Russian disaster action blockbuster produced by TRITE Studio, Central Partnership and Channel Russia 2, which was released in April 2016. Inspired by the 1979 Soviet film Air Crew, it was the second catastrophe film shot in the Russian Federation. The film I extremely high on action and is certain to grab the attention of action film lovers. The film was shot in IMAX 3D and became the second Russian film shot using this equipment.

The film was released theatrically in China on August 19, 2016 and it has grossed CN¥30.7 million at the Chinese box office, equal to 4,6 million USD.
