The 1971 ANAND, One of the most iconic films starring Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan is all set to be remade by the original producer, N.C. Sippy’s grandson Sameer Raj Sippy along with Producer Vikram Khakhar.
While the film is at the scripting stage, the makers are yet to finalise the director.
Excited Producer Vikram Khakhar adds, “Digging into our own classics, we will find invaluable gems rather than scouting for stories, Internationally or Regionally. Placing Anand in the post Covid era, where we emphasise on the value of life, will enhance the story of Anand.”
Elated about the remake announcement, Producer Sameer Raj Sippy who feels that stories like these need to be narrated to the new generation, he said, “Keeping in mind the sensibilities of the original film and the emotions attached, I felt the current generation needs to be retold the many stories that are so relevant today and specially when there is a great appetite for good content.”
Produced by Sameer Raj Sippy and Vikram Khakhar, the other details about the film are underwraps. The remake of this cult classic movie will definitely turn into a blockbuster impressing millions of viewers.

Anand was co-written and directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee with dialogues written by Gulzar. The film stars Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Sumita Sanyal, Ramesh Deo and Seema Deo. The film won few awards including Filmfare Award for Best film in 1972. Anand is counted 17 consecutive box office successes of Rajesh Khanna between 1969 to 1971.
The music was composed by Salil Chowdhary, lyrics by Gulzar and Yogesh. The songs were sung by Mukesh, Manna Dey, Lata Mangeshkar. Gulzar wrote the poem “Maut Tu Ek Kavita Hai”, which is narrated by Amitabh Bachchan.
The Role Was First Offered To Dharmendra. Till the time of the release of Anand, the star of the film, Amitabh Bachchan, was not recognized in public. Sharing the incident on Twitter, a fan reminded him of how he got recognition from the film. On the release day of the film, Bachchan went to a petrol pump to fill up the tank of his car and no one recognized him. But, after the release of the film in the evening, when he went to the same petrol pump for a refill, the public started identifying him. Bachchan posted on Twitter, “this is a true happenstance .. it was the petrol pump at Irla, on SV Road
