Social Worker Rani Poddar’s 60th birthday celebration attended by crème-de-la-crème of south Mumbai

Rani Poddar’s Birthday Celebrations at the Mayfair Rooms, Worli was a classy affair with the crème-de-la-crème of south Mumbai in attendance. This was a surprise party hosted by her daughter Samta Goyal in honour of her mother and so also to celebrate her 60th Birthday.

Jaywantiben Maheta, former member of Parliament arrived well in time and thoroughly enjoyed the musical performance of Dr. Soma Ghosh. Mrs. Gafoor, wife of former Mumbai Police Commissioner, Hassan Gafoor was also spotted in this exclusive gathering.

Zarine Khan was energy personified as she took to the dance floor with great gusto and whoomph. As the exclusive cake prepared for the occasion was being served to the guests. Ananya Banerjee joined the celebrations in a gorgeous pink outfit.

Andi Visaev, Director of School of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Mumbai also made a rare appearance and was accompanied by Louisa of the Russian Consulate.

Umaesh Pherwani looked dapper in a black overcoat and spent most part of the afternoon with Viveck Shettyy and Amit Dolawat of “Sasural Genda Phool” fame. Lyricist Maya Govind gave more than a fare demonstration of her dancing skills complete with facial expression and rapid eye moments. Dr. Soma Ghosh regaled the audience with an interesting performance of folk and traditional Indian music. Samta Goyal was the perfect host and daughter and ensured that all the guests were well attended to and taken good care of.

Rani Poddar is known for her contribution in the form of social work for almost 30 long years in providing healthcare, education, sanitation facilities to the deprived sections of the society and also plays a key role in managing the business conglomerate of the Poddar Family. In 2009, the Times of India group recognized and acknowledged Rani Poddar for her outstanding social contribution by conferring the “Angel of the City” award. She also received the prestigious “Udaan” award as a woman of substance at the hands of Ashok Chavan, former Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
