RANGEELA was released on 8 September 1995. Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, the film starring Aamir Khan, Jackie Shroff and Urmila Matondkar in pivotal roles.

The film was A. R. Rahman’s debut Hindi film with an original score and soundtrack. The film was a major box office success and received critical acclaim. The film won seven Filmfare Awards that year.

Rangeela opened with a positive response and was declared a Blockbuster at the box office, grossing over 334 million. It was also the fourth biggest grosser of 1995.
