Songs and dances have always been an integral part of the Indian Cinema. Hence not only Hindi but also regional films are embellished with lilting and melodious songs,. Marathi Cinema has been different in the sense that it has always had the best of amalgamation of new pairs and the traditional folklore especially in recent times. Producer-Director Munawar Bhagat has now entered the scene following in the footsteps of his predecessors.
Munawar Bhagat has produced the film NIVDUNG under the banner of Meena Shamim Films. The music launch of the film was held recently with great fanfare at the Juhu based Sea Side Hotel. Present on the occasion were producer-director Munawar Bhagat, music director Rafiq Shaikh, actors Bhushan Pradhan, Sanskruti Balgude, Shekhar Phadke, associate director Shashi Meena, cinematographer Akn Sebasten, Mohit Poddar of zee Music and distributor Girish Wankhede, besides celebrities from both the Marathi as well as the Hindi film industry.
NIVDUNG has six songs, all interwoven with the subject and hence very vital to the film. Music Director Rafiq Shaikh has composed the songs in different moods. The devotional number “Viththala Viththala” has been written by Zaheer Kalaam and sung by Swapnil Bandodkar, the lavni “Mazya Jwanila Angabhar Bhijva” written by Zaheer Kalaam sung by Urmila Dhangar. The sad song “Maze Mala Kale Na“ written by Prasad Kulkarni has been sung by Neha Rajpal and Rafiq Shaikh. The Ghazal written by poet Sharad “Teela Mee Pahile” has also been sung by Neha Rajpal and Rafiq Shaikh. Rafiq Shaikh has also sung the song “Kuberachya Gharat” with Suresh Wadkar. “Dhondi Dhondi Pani De” written by Kalaam also has been sung by Rafiq Shaikh.
The most prevalent adversity in Maharashtra today is the drought. Peasants decide to give up their precious lives driven by poverty, under the notion that at least their families will get money if they set out to commit suicide. NIVDUNG is a film which sets out to address this grave issue. A different love story is also unfurled at the same time in this film which tackles a grave issue. Munawar Bhagat who is making his debut as a director in Marathi film with NIVDUNG has handled a grave issue like drought and made it entertaining to the core with the help of lyrics and music. Leading playback singers of Marathi Cinema have crooned all the numbers of the film. Rafiq Shaikh who is very knowledgeable about music has embellished the film with his songs as a music director and hence NIVDUNG will prove to be a complete package in every respect for the viewers.
The film stars Bhushan Pradhan, Sanskruti Balgude, Sara Shrawan, Shekhar Phadke, Prajakta Dighe and Astad Kale among others. The story has been written by Munawar Bhagat while the screenplay and the dialogues have been written by Mahendra Patil. Shashikant Meena is the associate director while Akn Sebasten is the cinematographer. Megha Sampat has choreographed three songs. Sandeep More is the Executive Producer while Rafiq Shaikh is the music director of the film.
