GG) Tell us about your background.

SA) I am from Chandigadh. My dad is doctor, mom housewife and I have a younger sister. I am a Mechanical Engineer. My first job was in a software company.

GG) You wanted to become an actor…

SA) Actually I wanted to become a model since childhood.

GG) How did ROADIES happened to you?

SA) When I was doing engineering auditions for Roadies were held. One of my friends wanted to participate. So I went with him and also gave audition. He did not get selected but I got in.

GG) What change did you feel after ROADIES?

SA) I got to learn a lot after participating in ROADIES. My views towards life changed. I learnt how to face and tackle problems. I became very popular in my home town.

GG) Then?

SA) I completed my studies. After doing a job for one year I left as my passion was calling me. I came to Mumbai. I did print ads and commercials like Colgate Active Salt (with Lara Dutta), Hero Honda, CBZ, AEX Deo, Reliance, Samsung Mobile and many more. Then got a break in serials.

GG) How did you get STUDENT OF THE YEAR?

SA) I had given audition at Dharma Productions before. I got a call from them one day. I liked my character Jeet and I was on board. I was very happy when Kareena Kapoor congratulated me after watching a special screening of SOTY.

GG) How was your experience working with Karan Johar?

SA) Great. He never shouts, make the actor comfortable and always handles things in a proper way. He is a very up to the mark person.

GG) Any memorable moments during the shoot?

SA) Lots, but I will tell you one incident happened while we were shooting a swimming pool scene. I had phobia for swimming but I had to learn it for the film. When I reached middle of the pool, water went into my mouth and I started panicking, started to move my hands and legs frantically to keep afloat. Varun realized my absence, turned back, saw me struggling and losing control. He came and helped me to reach the sides.

GG) How was your experience doing SOTY?

SA) Superb. I was little nervous initially but I learned a lot. I am not a trained actor or dancer. After SOTY I am confident about my dancing skills. I am a good learner.

GG) What difference did you feel between TV and film?

SA) There is a difference in treatment. You do not have time when doing a serial. In film they make you perform, give time.
