There are a few names in Bollywood that are evergreen. And, some of them are Lata Mangeshkar, Zeenat Aman and Helen. All these three lovely ladies are revered even today. So, bringing them together is no mean feat. And, this feat has been achieved by Sanjay Shara for his directorial venture ‘Dunno Y… Na Jaane Kyun’. The film marks the return of Zeenie on the silver screen. The Nightingale of India – Lata Mangeshkar has also kept her singing exclusive these days. And now she has lent her legendary voice to the title track of the film. The songstress will be singing after four years; the last time she sang for Yash Chopra’s Veer Zara, Rang De Basanti and then Page 3. In between she only released a Bhajan album, which wasn’t a commercial venture.
” It was like my dream come true,” says visibly excited Nikhil Kamat. “The night before the recording I just couldn’t sleep out of sheer excitement. I kept humming the notes in my mind thinking that I should not goof up anything while recording with her,” says the music director Nikhil Kamat who has given music to this film. This track will be pictureised on Zeenat Aman in the film which is directed by Sanjay Sharma (brother of Anil Sharma). “When we mentioned her that the film stars Zeenat Aman, Helen and Rituparna she was very happy because she likes to be a part of project which gives importance to women. She also mentioned about her favourite tracks which she has sung for Helen and Zeenat,” he says.
Lata ji did playback vocals for Zeenie in hit songs like “Panna ki tamanna”, “Satyam shivam sundaram”, “Main na bhoolungi” to name just a few. The magic is all set to be created now with the film that will be directed by Sanjay Sharma. Likewise, when Zeenat heard that the song would be sung by none other than Lataji, she was really excited too. Well, two mesmerizing women of the industry are all set to meet again. Needless to say, history will be created again, thanks to this young music director Nikhil Kamat who made impossible
As for the ever sizzling Helen – the last few times one saw her was in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam andMohabbatein. Now in Dunno Y… not only does she have a full length role, playing Zeenat Aman’s mother-in-law but she has also done what she does best – a jig in one of the scenes. Helen will be seen dancing in the film, something she has always been remembered for. Interestingly, the last time all the three came together was in the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Don in 1978. Zeenat played the lead role, Helen played her sister-in-law (Zeenat’s brother’s wife) and Lata Mangeshkar playbacked for Zeenat. It’s been over 30 years but one is still mesmerized by the magical trio. Now it’s a new day but the magic remains the same! The film also stars Yuvraaj Parashar,Kapil Sharma, Maradona Rebello,Rituparna Sengupta.
