Eminent Writer, Music Director and Director Ajay Naik, who earlier made films like Bavre Prem He, Lagna Pahave Karun and Satrangi Re has once again played the same role in the forthcoming Marathi film ‘Hostel Days’, which is now ready for release on 12th January 2018. Prarthana Behere, Aroh Welankar, Virajas Kulkarni, Akshay Tanksale and Sanjay Jadhav are in lead roles.
In addition to this, the film also introduces a group of Talented Actors including Chinmay Patwardhan, Sagarika Rukari, Purva Deshpande, Purva Shinde, Ankita Lande and Ganesh Birangal.
“Hostel Days” is being presented by Shree Parshwa Productions and Twenty four Studios and produced by Subhash Bora, Chandan Gehlot and Harvinder Singh of Shree Parshwa Productions in association with Ajay Naik Productions.
“Hostel life has always had a special place in the memory of all those who have lived in a Hostel. And for those who couldn’t experience the Hostel Life ever, there has always been a fascination for it. The days spent in hostel always makes one nostalgic, while reminiscing those golden days of life” says Director Ajay Naik while announcing the release date of the film.
The story of the film revolves around the happenings at a hostel in Kopargaon in Satara in 1994. The decade of 1990 saw a lot of changes in the Education System in Maharashtra as lot of Private Colleges started setting up in the same decade, with which lot of students all over the Country started coming to Maharashtra for education. This resulted into a lot of changes in the society and also the College environment. Hostel Days deals with these changes in a very light, fun-filled and positive way.
The era of 1990s is also know as the era of Melodious music and thus Hostel Days is a Musical Film, considering the 1990s period. The film has total 8 melodious songs sung by leading Bollywood singers such as Sonu Nigam, Kumar Sanu, Shankar Mahadevan, Shaan, Kunal Ganjawala, Avdhoot Gupte to Bela Shende. The director and music composer Ajay Naik wanted the golden era to be revived and revisited by giving similar kind of songs in Hostel Days. He wanted all these stalwarts to sing for the film. He had no words to express his joy when all of them agreed to sing for the film and This may be perhaps for the first time ever that six Bollywood singers have sung for a Marathi Film says Ajay Naik. Other artists who have sung the songs include leading artists from the industry Priyanka Barve, Anandi Joshi and Rucha Bondre.
He further said that there have been many successful films on College Life, made in all languages around the world; however this is a unique film based specifically on the Hostel life. Thus ’Hostel Days’ has already aroused a lot of curiosity among the film goers.
Subhash Bora producer of the Film says, “We are very happy to announce our first film directed by the multi talented Ajay Naik” and added “The story deals with the Hostel Life in early 90s when there were no Mobile phones and Smart phones, no cable or dish TV, no internet and thus there was lot of fun. Hostel life back then was definitely more exciting than what it is now; hence today’s audiences will be reminded of those simpler times. This Musical film with its refreshing music will be really a feast to the audience.”
