‘Let’s Dance’ fame singer CJ came out with her new song, ‘Heere Heere’ during the Diwali week in recently and dedicated this track to two stalwarts of the Punjabi music fraternity, Surinder Kaur, who rendered her mesmerizing voice to the original song, and legendary lyricist and poet Shiv Batalvi.
A Chandigarh girl through and through CJ is all set to make her Bollywood singing debut in next year’s ‘Googly Ho Gayi’, and is full of emotions and nostalgia when she talks about her upcoming song, “I have grown up listening to and getting inspired by the greats of Punjabi music. And Surinder Kaur has been such a massive inspiration for so many generations. I used to dream about being able to dedicate something to her memory and when the opportunity came forward, I jumped and took it with almost a child-like enthusiasm.”
“Shiv Batalvi’s works, as we all know are once in a lifetime experience. His lyrics have had a life of their own and this is our humble attempt to pay homage to the man, whose legend has grown as the years have gone.”
Talking about her debut song, which was on top of the music charts within the first week, CJ says she decided on a totally different challenge for her solo debut. “We were touching upon a totally different genre and some people raised eyebrows, but the challenge was exactly what drove me and the rest of the team too. We have put our soul into the song and I am sure people will see it and show it the same amount of love, if not more.”
The producer of the song Adhnesh Vij, whose agency Brandstar also manages CJ, said, “CJ has made a mark in the music industry and a place in the hearts of her fans so quickly that we were flooded with requests for a solo song for her before anything else. And when we found the right track for her, everything fell into place very quickly. The entire team have done such a fantastic job with the song and the treatment it has been given that we are assured that her fans will see her rising to the challenge and meeting their expectations.”
