There is no doubt that Marathi Cinema has always churned out subjects in large numbers which are not only different from the usual mundane subjects and are novel. Some of the films are realistic, some are based on artistic imagination, some hold mirror to society while some are designed just to entertain the audiences. Some films make you laugh your guts out while some make you go in for introspection and set out to think too. Some films bring about changes in society while some drive home new thoughts in abundant measure. In short, Marathi films today do not just entertain but also step further to drive home some pertinent message to the audiences. “Ganesh Film & Entertainment” Presentation “Gopya” is a predominantly musical film which has been made on similar lines. It is slated for release all over Maharashtra on April 21.
Produced by Amol Bhalerao, Nitin Pagare and Raj Paithankar and co-produced by Sarjerao Mote, Atulraje Gayali and Dhanaji Gaikwad and Subhash Jagadhne, Gopya is a rare blend of mellifluous music and an extra ordinary subject. With this film produced by “Ganesh Film & Entertainment”, “Soil Group of Companies” and “Hari Om Multistate Co-operative Credit Society Limited along with “Soil Events & Entertainment Private Limited” are making their debut in Marathi film industry. The film has situational songs which succeed in carrying forward the film forward. The music launch of the film was held at Suryavanshi Kshatriya Hall in Dadar, Mumbai on a large scale. On the occasion, present were the singers, music director and the director of the film, who expressed their views about the film and the songs. The actors recalled their wonderful experience while shooting for the film. There are four songs in the film and the director has written lyrics while Kiran-Raj have composed the songs. Kiran has sung “Taana Na Taana Na…” and “Tu Tujhya Jeevanacha Shilpakar…” while Neha Rajpal has sung “Kaay Asa Kekla Mee Gunaha…” Master Rohit Wagh has crooned the number “Aapli Khod Kuni Kaadaichi Nahi…”
According to Raj Paithankar, each song will depict different emotions and through the film, the viewers will be able to see the plight of the poor boy living in extreme conditions of penury. It is an inspiring story of a helpless boy in distress who wages a war against circumstances to achieve his dream. Though many films have been made on children of late, Gopya will deal with an issue which has not yet been shown in any film till date, adds Raj Paithankar. The biggest challenge that the music director duo had to face while composing the songs for the film was that they had to churn out songs which justified both the script as well as the situations. The idea was not just to entertain the audiences with songs but also depict the characterizations perfectly bring out the nuances of each. The director says that it has been entirely a different experience working with Yogesh Mahajan who has written a wonderful screenplay.
Raj Paithankar who has dabbled in direction as well as lyrics has also written the subject. Yogesh Sabnis has written the meaningful and incisive dialogues for the film. Besides Aditya Paithankar who has played the title role, the film also stars Madhavi Juvekar, Kamlesh Sawant, Manisha Paithankar, Uday Sabnis, Jaywant Wadkar, Ajay Jadhav, Sameer Vijayan, Rajesh Bhosle, Prakash Dhotre, Amir Tadwalkar, Manasi Murudkar and Ajit Jadhav. Cinematography is by Aniket K while Art Direction is by Devdatt Raut and Nandu Moharkar. Atul Salve is the production executive while Chinni Chetan is the choreographer. Sonu Paitankar has designed the sound for the film while Vishal Kotkar has edited the film.
