Deepika Padukone is back in Mumbai after a long gap of two months. She has been shooting in Cape Town, South Africa with Saif Ali Khan for their untitled film (earlier called Cocktail). Deepika turned 26 on 5th January. She came Mumbai to celebrate her birthday with parents at home. We caught up with her for a small chat:
Who wished you first?
Salman was actually the first person to wish me…3 days ago!!! haha…I thought that was really sweet…:-)
Since you turned 26 this year, what’s the feeling like? Do you feel more mature or responsible personally?
I’ve always been mature and responsible which is why my parents were comfortable with me moving out of home at a young age. But yes, with every passing year comes experiences and that makes you grow as a person…
What are the expectations from next year – in professional and personal space?
Come this year with the release of the untitled love story and ‘Race-2’ with Saif and ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ with Ranbir…
You will start work on ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ with Ranbir this year. Besides, you also have much-delayed ‘Rana’ with Rajnikanth in kitty. Are you expecting a lot from these films this year?
I’m excited about ‘Yeh Jawaani…’ because it’s a love story and I’m looking forward to working with Ranbir and Ayan…Working with Dharma Productions feels like an achievement and I couldn’t have asked for a better start…:-)
What was your special wish on the birthday?
A simple home cooked south Indian meal.
Any gift you gave to yourself on birthday? What gifts you got from parents or friends?
My dream home was a gift to myself and I enjoyed that at the moment.
How did you spend the special day?
With my family and friends and a visit to the temple.
