Bollywood singer Shilpa Surroch turns rapper

Music reality show star and singer Shilpa Surroch who became popular as a contestant on The Voice India Season 2, has bagged a song for another film Paharganj. The film is a murder mystery and thriller and the lyrics are penned by the popular lyricist of Udta Punjab, Shellee. After the rap fever engulfing the country with Ranveer Singh’s Gully Boy, Shilpa is happy that she has gotten an opportunity to sing one.

She says, “I shot for the song when I was suffering from severe cold. I was not very confident if the song will turn out well but the makers loved the song, when it finally came out. I think they liked my nasal voice. It was a great experience rapping, since I took it as a challenge and the film is also great based in Paharganj- also known as the Amsterdam of India.”

The singer who has sung for films Black Bud, Murari The Mad Gentleman, Game over, Mirror Game and Vikram Bhatt’s shows feels it is important that you bring versatility in your singing and with a rap song, Shilpa is sure going places. She is sharing the song credits with popular Bollywood singer Brijesh Shandilya of ‘Banno’ fame.
